Earlier this year, Richard Gadd’s Netflix series Baby Reindeer premiered on April 11. The series saw Jessica Gunning take on the role of Martha Scott, who is shown as a former lawyer stalking the protagonist, the character Donny Dunn, played by Gadd himself.

The series was well-met by fans everywhere, but led to a huge controversy due to the real-lie inspiration associated with Baby Reindeer. As it turns out, the character of Jessica Gunning was based on the all-too-real individual Fiona Harvey, who Gadd effectively accused of stalking him, amongst a range of other allegations.

Harvey has been in the spotlight since the release of the series, majorly due to her claims that much of the story portrayed in Baby Reindeer, was indeed false. She also sat down for a publicized interview with Piers Morgan, which led to further controversy as Harvey later claimed that the noted internet personality had simply used her for clout.

Regardless, in what serves as an unideal update for Fiona Harvey, she has been accused of stalking by another major public personality, British politician George Galloway.

Baby Reindeer inspiration Fiona Harvey accused of stalking former British MP George Galloway

The 69-year-old former Member of Parliament George Galloway sat for an interview with Piers Morgan, on June 27. During it, he claimed that he had been a victim of Fiona Harvey back in the 80s. He claimed that he chose to speak out after seeing Harvey herself being featured in an interview, and said the following:

"It took me right back to the 1980s, when stalking was up close and personal because there was no emails, there was no texting. You had to either phone someone on their landline or turn up at their door. That's real stalking -- and that's what she did to me."

The politician later claimed that Harvey was ‘forever on (his) case, and tagged her as an obsessive woman. Sharing the alleged concerning experience, Galloway revealed that Harvey had attempted to stalk her both via phone calls and physical presence, and the overall experience, as one would expect, proved quite traumatic.

Furthermore, he claimed that Harvey was relentless against her, and even said that he would be willing to testify against her if required to, in the future. Furthermore, he claimed that unlike in the case of Richard Gadd, Harvey’s pursuit of him was not romantic. Instead, it was professional, as she was allegedly fixated on Galloway’s job and ‘wished to take it’.

Currently caught up in a $170 million lawsuit against Netflix, Harvey has alleged that Baby Reindeer was defamatory. It comes even as Richard Gadd himself seems to be moving on, having already announced his next project in the form of a new HBO/BBC series called Lions.

Baby Reindeer is currently available to be watched on Netflix.
