The Perfect Couple premiered to a mixed response on September 6, 2024, but one sequence that has absolutely won hearts over from the very onset was its credit scene. The star-studded whodunnit mystery, starring some of Hollywood's finest, boasted an opening credit scene where all the cast members were seen dancing in sync to the Meghan Trainor song Criminals.

As the scene continues to get a massive response from fans across the world, it is worth noting that this scene almost did not make it to the series because the stars did not want to do it at all in the first place.

Stars like Nicole Kidman and Ishan Khattar could not get the motivation behind this sequence and even protested the same in more than a single way. Yet, the sequence did make it to the final cut and has become one of the most talked-about aspects of the Susanne Bier directorial.

Talking about this sequence, X user @AshleyHume summed up how the fans felt, saying:

"So fun! Can we get an extended cut?"

Other users added similar thoughts to this.

"The Perfect Couple opening credits is Perfect"- another user wrote.
""The Perfect Couple" opening credits are celebrated for their meticulous detail, seamless continuity, and thematic integration with the narrative, often highlighted for their perfection in capturing the essence of the story through visuals and music."- another user said.
"Every second is a masterpiece!"- another fan added.

By now, most of the cast members would be glad that they did decide to ultimately do the sequence, which has become a massive hit.

Why did the cast of The Perfect Couple not want to do the intro sequence?

While the rest of the series was geared towards something different, the intro of The Perfect Couple seemed out of place and goofy to many of the cast members, including Nicole Kidman. Director Bier even revealed that there was a mutiny forming among the cast, who created a WhatsApp group to address this specific thing.

In an interview with Variety, Fahy explained this, saying:

"Everyone was on that group saying they didn’t want to do this because we just didn’t understand...I actually have a really, really huge issue with learning choreography so I was very nervous about it."

Nicole Kidman, meanwhile, claimed that her character would never be a part of this naturally, as the matriarch was a very different kind of figure in the show.

Ishan Khattar also described his surprise at this sequence, saying:

"I don’t think any of us could make sense of doing this choreography in character. We’re like, ‘Wait, where does this fit into the scheme of things? This was not part of the assignment."

Liev Schreiber, meanwhile, was on board with this and was perhaps the only high-profile actor not trying to be part of a rebellion against this.

In the end, this sequence of The Perfect Couple was a huge hit among fans and has effectively become one of the most memorable sequences in the series.

The Perfect Couple is now streaming on Netflix.
