Creators of Curses! Season 2 on Apple TV+ on Harrison Ford, horror from India and more (Exclusive)

Curses! on Apple TV+ is essential viewing this Halloween. Even though the show may be geared toward a younger demographic on the surface, the creators— Jeff Dixon and Jim Cooper— are horror aficionados and easter eggs abound.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, the two men discussed how a writer in their staff inspired them to explore horror from India and also who their dream guest voice actor is.

Unsurprisingly because the show is dubbed 'Indiana Jones in Reverse,' where priceless artifacts are returned to their place of origin, the men behind the Apple TV+ original named Harrison Ford as their dream guest voice actor.

Curses! on Apple TV+ is not just aimed to be 'horror for kids'

All 10 episodes of Curses! Season 2 are currently streaming on Apple TV+. Creator and Executive Producer Jim Cooper stated:

"Jeff and I would talk about what shows we watch with our kids. And that we genuinely liked. So, we were always hoping parents would be as excited to share it with kids. And frankly, people without kids. I would like to think they would like it too."

Jeff Dixon clarified that Curses! was not horror for kids, but horror for all ages that kids could also watch:

"Personally, Coop and I, we’ve never thought of the show as a kids show. We thought of it as a show for everyone, that was acceptable for kids. So, it’s something we saw as a co-viewing experience. Everybody watches it. Kids could watch as well. We never ever wanted to put us in one corner."

One of the stories deals with a cursed puppet that the Vanderhouven family is tasked with returning to Rajasthan, India. This is an idea that came from Ami Boghani, one of the writers on the Apple TV+ original, says Creator/Executive Producer Jeff Dixon:

"Our writer. Ami Boghani. One of the things we really wanted to tell from the beginning is what is one very personal story you want to tell. And all three – Ami, Dimitry and Khaila picked something that was kinda very personal to them. And that all originated from Ami."

Legendary actress Rhea Perlman of Barbie fame, who voices Margie, on the show, had the best reaction to this, according to Cooper. He said:

"And by the way, one thing that’s hilarious is that when we were recording this episode, Rhea Perlman who plays Margie went "OH I’ve seen these puppet shows. They can be really scary.""

The show consists of a talented list of voice actors, including Perlman, Gabrielle Nevaeh, James Marsters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame, among others.

But Jim Cooper said vehemently that Mr. Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford, was certainly atop the dream list if Season 3 happens:

"If it was left to our Dreamworks Executives, a 100% Harrison Ford. We would have a hard time getting him out of the recording booth."
