ABC's Grey’s Anatomy is arguably the most popular drama series related to the medical drama. Starring Kate Burton and Ellen Pompeo, Grey's Anatomy recently concluded its 20th season, which had a total of 10 episodes.

Considering the amount of dramatic twists and turns that Grey's Anatomy has seen thus far, there are a range of mysteries that still remain unanswered. That, quite notably includes the crime that Kristen, a former patient of Meredith Grey, did to be convicted.

In Grey's Anatomy season 13 episode 10, which came out in May 2017, Kristen was introduced as a pregnant teenager in prison who undergoes a range of complications due to her unborn child suffering from TRAP syndrome.

What did Kristen do on Grey's Anatomy?

Kristen is shown as a 16-year-old pregnant teenager, a case which demands the likes of Arizona Robbins, Miranda Bailey, and Jo Wilson, who are called into prison for the case. Kristen is shown having violent impulses and even loses her calm initially when approached by Dr. Eldridge, played by Klea Scott.

Regardless, the three doctors are sent to the prison hospital ward where they realize that Kristen is suffering from TRAP syndrome. The condition occurs when a healthy twin’s heart is forced to work twice as hard to supply blood to both children. This endangers the healthy twin as well, which meant that the doctors needed to operate quickly to save the healthy baby.

Why was Kristen in jail on Grey’s Anatomy?

Kristen from Grey's Anatomy was utterly violent, used to respond unpredictably, and came from a wealthy background. Dr. Eldridge is seen revealing that Kristen is serving a 20-year-old sentence, but the reason itself is not revealed.

However, a recent Reddit theory that hints at a frightening possibility might hold more weight than it seems to, initially. Several fans believe that the baby daddy, who the doctors were trying to keep alive, might be the offspring of Kristen’s own father. One user wrote the following on a Reddit post on r/greysanatomy, suggesting that Kristen may have ended up killing his father in a fit of anger:

“I think they hinted at maybe abuse of some kind forced her to be the way she is. She shouted and was ridiculously aggressive when jo and arizona went to touch her "you can't just put your hands on me" , or something along those lines."

The user added:

"Also the lack of a father, the heartfelt apology and the "didn't mean to do it" and then the mother warning arizona to keep an eye on her child because she doesnt know what went wrong with her own. That tells me that there was a sudden shift in her behaviour, perhaps her dad is the baby daddy and she killed him? Could just be me being morbid, though.”

The user claimed that the doctors’ outlook towards Kristen suggested that she was forced into a terrible position, and her violent response to their initial cajoling, when she thought her boundaries might be getting infringed, suggests the same.

Several Grey's Anatomy viewers seemed to believe that the theory makes the most sense, and was hinted at via episode 10 of season 13. Of course, there is no confirmation of the same, but Grey’s Anatomy fans appear to have made sense of the situation, using the limited evidence they have on offer.

Grey’s Anatomy is available on Netflix and Hulu.
