David Henrie is seemingly getting criticized online after supposedly shading Wizards of Waverly Place actor Dan Benson in an interview. This comes after the latter took to social media to respond to the former blocking him on X.

On October 30, David Henrie appeared on Buzzfeed Celeb’s The Cast of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Find Out Which Original Character They Are video. In the segment, the cast of the show, including Janice LeAnn Brown, Mimi Gianopulos, Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko, and Taylor Cora, took a quiz designed to reveal which character they resembled from the original Disney Channel television show.

At one point in the interview, David Henrie said:

“I can’t believe you put one of these people on here. Millennials understand that.”

His fellow actors seemingly nodded, acknowledging his remarks. As David Henrie listed out potential guest stars who should appear in the reboot, the cast burst into laughter when Henrie took Benson’s character’s name, Zeke Beakerman.

The latter was seemingly displeased with Benson being mentioned in the video, throwing shade at the fact that Benson had launched a career in the adult entertainment industry following his childhood acting fame. This moment from the interview was quick to go viral, with many fans condemning Henrie.

For those uninitiated, the internet user referred to David Henrie’s most recent movie Reagan, which was amid a controversy. Rotten Tomatoes criticized the film’s “cloying and glossy rendering of history flattens the 40th U.S. President into caricature,” with The Los Angeles Times also slamming the movie for its “hollow portrait tailor-made for religious conservatives with a thin grasp of history and no tolerance for nuance.”

Several other internet users continued to reprimand David Henrie.

“He’s the reason the reboot will get canceled,” an X user said.

“He wanted to be messy so… dan responding is not exactly out of pocket,” another platform user said.

After Henrie slammed Dan Benson on YouTube, the latter took to X and said in a graphic tweet, “David Henrie can suck my d**k. I’ll pay him more than they paid me for Wizards I promise you that.” Meanwhile, other reactions read:

Dan Benson took to social media to seemingly mock David Henrie for blocking him on X

On October 30, Dan Benson took to his Instagram account to share a screenshot that showed that Henrie had blocked him on X. Benson proceeded to pretend to cry to the occurrence in the video as well. The social media post was captioned:

“We pretend to be best friends for years. How could you do this to me??”

Dan Benson had previously commented about not being invited to participate in the reboot, allegedly due to his new career in the adult entertainment industry. In an interview with TMZ, Benson said:

“I think it’s super exciting that the fans get to kind of relive their childhood again, and the old characters that they used to love watching are coming back… The other side of me is very sad because I know for a fact that I will definitely not be a part of it. That’s all on me. I totally get it. I made choices”

Benson had previously discussed that he started a career in adult entertainment after his acting career took a hit when his nude photos were leaked online. As per USA Today, in a TikTok video posted by him, he explained that he "tripped and fell" into the adult entertainment industry after his s*xually explicit photos were allegedly leaked online.

He further added that it caused him a lot of trauma to get these photos taken off the internet. However, Benson stated that he chose to lean into the incident and began selling his photos online, which marked the beginning of his new career.
