Fans of actor-musician Jensen Ackles are outraged after X user and influencer who goes by the handle @imnotpopbase posted a collage of nine men from the entertainment industry, calling them "ugly," one of whom was The Boys star.
“The category is: Ugly men that are only considered attractive because they are White,” the post's caption read.
The collage also comprised images of Irish actor Barry Keoghan, Canadian rapper Drake, Canadian-American actor-producer Ryan Reynolds, Australian actor Hugh Jackman, American-French actor Timothee Chalamet, American actor Jeremy Allen White, Australian actor Jacob Elordi, and American actor-influencer Noah Beck.
The post has since garnered severe traction online, including 3.7 million views at the time of writing, alongside over 2400 comments, 15000 likes, and 5800 reposts.
In the wake of this, fans of Jensen Ackles have united to call out the post-creator and defend the actor-musician’s appearance and personality. For instance, @minyardists shared the viral tweet alongside a 31-second reel of Ackles’ roles over the years and wrote in the caption:
“I know taste is subjective but saying this about JENSEN ACKLES is mental when he’s served face his ENTIRE life.”
Several others joined in the conversation and shared similar opinions:
“It was absolutely no need for you to sneak Jensen Ackles in this,” a person wrote.
“Uh Jensen Ackles is NOT ugly, wtf you mean,” one person wrote.
“Nah DON'T YOU DARE ADD JENSEN ACKLES,” another person wrote.
Others directly slammed Poppy for making such a post, calling her “delusional” and “dumb,” among other things.
“The category is: dumbest tweet of all time,” a netizen wrote.
“Woke up feeling delusional today?” one netizen wrote.
People also pointed out that Ackles’ and others’ attractiveness lies in the fact that they were “successful” in their respective fields.
“Excuse me poppy, they’re hot because they’re successful and talented,” an individual wrote.
“I think it’s more so being attracted to their personality or character that they play,” another individual wrote.
Jensen Ackles is currently preparing for the prequel of The Boys
Last month, Deadline exclusively reported that Jensen Ackles was slated to reprise his role of Soldier Boy in the upcoming The Boys prequel titled Vought Rising alongside his co-star Aya Cash, who will reappear in the character of Stormfront in the Amazon Prime superhero series.
Later, Ackles confirmed the news at a Comic-Con panel for the original series. At the same event, the showrunner Eric Kripke claimed that the prequel will focus on “the early exploits” of Jensen’s character Soldier Boy alongside being a “twisted murder mystery.” However, before being featured as one of the lead cast members of Vought Rising, Jensen will appear as a series regular in The Boys' fifth and final season.
Earlier, the 46-year-old Dallas native appeared regularly in season 3 (where he was introduced) but went missing in action in the following season, except for returning in the post-credit scene in the finale of season 4. There, he was shown lying in an inebriated state in a chamber where he was captured and imprisoned at the end of the third season by Grace Mallory’s character Laila Robins.
For those unaware, Ackles’ Soldier Boy, aka Ben, is the first American non-aging superhero (Supe) created by the antagonist Dr. Frederick Vought during the Second World War. As the leader of Payback, Soldier Boy possesses superhuman strength and has the power to emit radiation.
