There's good news for the Salvator brothers (The Vampire Diaries) and Mikaelson (The Original) fans as hinted by producer Julie Plec. At the premiere of The Girls of the Bus (2024), Plec revealed her plans to tell another story, now that The Vampire Diaries (2009-2017), The Originals (2013-2018), and Legacies(2018-22) have concluded.
She said:
"100%. Yeah, I have a story I still want to tell...."
The Vampire Diaries was a chartbuster and to date holds an IMDb rating of 7.7/10. Its spin-off The Originals holds a more impressive rating of 8.3/10, and, lastly, Legacies, starring Danielle Rose Russell as the protagonist Hope Mikaelson, holds an IMDb score of 7.2/10.
What did The Vampire Diaries creator Julia Plec hint at?
Julia Plec talked about the possibility of a new show, which will be an add-on to The Vampire Diaries franchise.
The show has already focused on the story of Stefan, Daemon and Elena, and moved on to the Mikaelsons. With the last chapter of the Mikaelson’s now concluded, with the final season of Legacies, a new story is most likely.
Although Plec didn't reveal much information about what the story will be or when will it begin production, she strongly hinted at the possibility of a new show, similar to the ones she has made for the TVD franchise. Plec said:
"100%. Yeah, I have a story I still want to tell. I know that the people who are on the book have a story that they still want to tell. I'm sure Warner Bros. has plenty of stories they want to tell. So, the hope is they'll give me the opportunity to do it again. So, we'll see."
From the above remark, we can confirm that Plec is adamant about making a new supernatural series with new witches, vampires, supernatural creatures, myth, lore and more.
However, it's too early for her to contemplate what the story will be about. More information can be obtained once the showrunner gives a green signal for the same.
