A major development took place with Matthew Perry’s death, as five have now been charged, including two doctors and the F.R.I.E.N.D.S alum’s assistant. The police revealed on Thursday, August 15, 2024, that they had discovered a "broad underground criminal network" of people who supplied the ketamine to Perry, due to which he passed away.

As soon as the news reached the realms of social media, many netizens began reacting and responding. One social media user called the five charged “horrible humans.”

“Quote from the doctor who supplied Ketamine to Matthew Perry; “I wonder how much this moron will pay” knowing Matthew Perry was an addict and knowing Matthew Perry had relapsed.. horrible humans.. they all need to rot in jail for drug dealing ..drug dealers are murderers.”

As PopBase also shared the news on the platform, multiple people reacted and commented,

“This development may lead to a broader investigation into the network and could have significant legal and social implications, especially regarding the responsibilities of medical professionals and caretakers,” wrote one social media user.
“Omg what?!?!? They deserve to pay for this,” commented another.
“Sadly behind every major celebraty struggling with a drug addiction is a close circle of enablers, usually medically qualified to get medication making a fast buck. Hopefully they get the sentence they deserve,” stated another X user.
“I hope they rot in jail,” stated another.
“This is so unfair to him & his family nobody should have to go through this,” said another X user.

Matthew Perry died on October 28, 2024, at 54. As per the Los Angeles Police Department, the actor was found lying unconscious in his jacuzzi by his assistant, who immediately called 911. While the cause of death was stated as drowning, months later, the LAPD revealed that his death was because of an excessive amount of ketamine in his blood.

“I wonder how much this moron will pay” — Police reveals text messages sent by doctors of Matthew Perry

Almost 10 months after his death, the authorities have uncovered the people who were allegedly responsible for his death, as the police claim that the doctor, his assistant, and the people who supplied the drugs took advantage of Perry’s addiction for monetary gains.

The police also discovered several messages being exchanged by the five people, as one text message by the doctor read,

“I wonder how much this moron will pay?”

The US Attorney’s office released a statement and said,

"These defendants took advantage of Mr Perry's addiction issues to enrich themselves. They knew what they were doing was risking great danger to Mr Perry, but they did it anyway.”

The authorities also revealed that three of the defendants, including Matthew Perry’s assistant, a doctor, and a woman who is known as “The Ketamine Queen” were arrested by the police. The statement by the Los Angeles Police Department also claimed that all the charged worked together to provide Perry with huge amounts of ketamine, which they knew were dangerous.

The authorities revealed that Matthew Perry had been receiving regular ketamine infusions for his depression. However, when his regular doctors denied him more quantity than needed, he contacted Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who then prescribed him the excess dosage for money.

The doctor has now been charged with seven counts of distribution of ketamine, and two other charges on accusations that he manipulated the records after the demise of the actor. Apart from Plasencia, Perry’s assistant and “The Ketamine Queen” AKA Jasveen Sangha, another doctor, known as “Dr. P” and Eric Fleming, the person who admitted supplying the drugs, have been charged.

The authorities also revealed shocking details like the vials that cost the doctors $12, were sold to the actor for $2000. While Eric Fleming and Matthew’s assistant have pleaded guilty and accepted that they supplied the actor with the vials, the others have pleaded not guilty.

The two who accepted the accusations have now entered the plea agreements and can face 15 to 25 years in prison. The next hearing is now scheduled for October 8, 2024.
