Leo Simon plays Ole Klatt on Where's Wanda?, the brand-new dark comedy series from Apple TV+. When his sister Wanda Klatt (Lea Drinda) goes missing, Ole joins his family in trying to locate her in this action and comedy-packed German-language original.
Sportskeeda was invited to do press for Where's Wanda?, and actor Leo Simon took the time to explain the motivation of his character. Much like his family on the show, Simon too would break laws for those he cares about.
Veteran comedic actor Axel Stein plays Dedo Klatt, Ole's father, while renowned musician Heike Makatsh plays Carlotta Klatt, his mother. Just like their characters, Simon would break many a law to save a loved one:

How similar is Leo Simon to his Where's Wanda? character? We asked the actor
According to the young actor, Ole Klatt and he are extremely similar indeed:
"100%. Ole and I are both smart. We like to gamble. And we are shy. At least, at some point I was shy. Not anymore, which comes as an advantage. Furthermore, he is hearing impaired and also had to communicate in sign language."
Even though the basic premise of Where's Wanda? is that it is based on a teenager's disappearance, the tone is never that serious. We asked Leo Simon if he was ever worried that the comedy could overpower the seriousness of the situation. He replied:
"Indeed, the series is intended to be a drama tragedy in the first place. You can't cover that up. But I didn't want to make it only a sad story. And this is why we tried to introduce funny moments."
The Where's Wanda? cast is a really funny ensemble, keeping the audience entertained in the quest to find the beloved member of their family. Even though Dedo Klatt is a bumbling, lovable fool in the series, the comedic chops of actor Axel Stein enabled the cast to let go and be funny. Simon added:
"I think Axel Stein enabled us to do so. We all know he's a great comedian. I think when he starts to do funny things, we automatically follow."
Wanda Klatt is young and attractive, and one of the topics raised through the series is whether there would be as much of a hue and cry had Ole been taken instead of her. We asked Leo Simon to ponder upon this question:
"Possibly. You're right. I'm not sure. Ole is not a very common person. He's hearing impaired, he's gay. I don't know what people would think would he disappear."
On being asked how he managed to play a complex character like Ole Klatt, someone bereaved over the disappearance of his sister and struggling with his own identity and sexuality, Simon replied:
"I tried to embody Ole and feel his feelings."
