Former Baywatch star, Nicole Eggert, who played the role of Summer Quinn, is a mother of two daughters, Dilyn who is 25 years old, and Keegan who is 13 years of age. In her latest interview with PEOPLE, on Tuesday, she said that she has been fortunate to have children to help her keep a normal life despite experiencing cancer.

Eggert's career boomed during the ‘90s when she was seen wearing a red swimsuit, and ever since, she has not had an easy ride in her career. Following the weight gain after the show Baywatch, in 2010, she joined VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club and managed to lose 10 lbs.

Nevertheless, the life of the actress changed in a more serious scenario in December of 2023 when she was diagnosed with stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer.

Nicole Eggert says waiting for treatment is the hardest part

Nicole Eggert, during a candid interview on 27 Aug, with PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of her docuseries After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun, Eggert, 52, showed the audience some aspects of her life which includes breast cancer.

Despite her positive outlook, she admitted that waiting for the next steps in her treatment has been the most challenging part.

“I am in sort of a gray area and I finished my treatment, waiting for more imaging and hopefully maybe surgery," Eggert said. "There's a lot of waiting in this and it's sort of something I didn't really realize and nobody really talks about."

Eggert expressed that while undergoing treatment, she felt productive and positive. However, the waiting period afterward has been frustrating.

"When I'm doing treatment, I felt like I was doing something productive... And now that it's just nothing, it's like, well, wait a minute. We got to get this out," she explained.

To cope with the anxiety of waiting, Nicole Eggert has turned to meditation and breath workshops. “I do whatever I can,” she said, adding that she’s been working with a Shaman and participating in guided imagery sessions. These practices, along with support from her children, have been vital in helping her stay focused and motivated.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Nicole Eggert revealed that her daughters have handled the situation “really well,” with her younger daughter, Keegan, continuing to treat her mother like any other day.

"My 13-year-old didn't give me any special treatment. It was still like, 'Mom, give me that, let's go here, let's do that,'"Eggert shared.

She added that this attitude kept her grounded and provided a sense of continuity in her life. Earlier this month, Nicole Eggert mentioned that caring for her younger daughter and working on her new project, After Baywatch, has given her purpose during this difficult time.

"Having a young daughter and having this project has been a great motivation for me to not just sit and think about my health and my wellbeing. It's giving me purpose," she said.

Nicole Eggert’s latest project, After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun is a four-part series that will soon become available for streaming on Hulu starting August 28.

The series Eggert co-wrote and produced explores the aftermath of Baywatch with over 30 interviews with the cast and the creators of the series including Carmen Electra, Billy Warlock, and Alexandra Paul.

The docuseries promises never-before-seen footage, including an archived interview with Pamela Anderson and a decade’s worth of home videos from the cast, offering fans an intimate glimpse into the show that ran for 11 seasons between 1989 and 2001.

After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun is set to premiere on August 28, 2024, on Hulu.
