After over five years of co-anchoring the morning show, Hoda Kotb, the adored anchor of NBC's TODAY, said on September 26, 2024, that she would be leaving her position early in 2025. During Thursday's episode of TODAY With Hoda and Jenna, she broke down in tears and declared,

“Saying goodbye to something this amazing is hard.”

She also informed her colleagues of the decision in a letter, according to TODAY.com. In a letter to TODAY, she wrote,

"My time at NBC has been the longest professional love affair of my life. But only because you've been beside me on this twenty-six-year adventure."

According to Page Six, as of 2018, Kotb accepted a contract to co-anchor TODAY, earning $7 million annually. Since then, she's probably received a raise, however, the exact amount of her 2024 yearly pay is unknown.

Hoda Kotb gave two reasons for leaving NBC’s TODAY

It was time for me to turn the page at 60, and to try something new. "

During the same, she further said,

"I've been weighing this decision for quite a while — Am I truly ready? But, my sixtieth birthday celebration on the Plaza felt like a shift. Like a massive, joyful YES, you are! I saw it all so clearly: my broadcast career has been beyond meaningful, a new decade of my life lies ahead, and now my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger slice of my time pie."

Her desire to spend more time with her two kids, Hope, who is five years old, and Haley, who is seven years old, was a major factor in her decision. Speaking about the same, she stated,

“Obviously I had my kiddos late in life, and I was thinking that they deserve a bigger piece of my time pie that I have. I feel like we only have a finite amount of time. And so, with all that being said, this is the hardest thing in the world.”

Before joining TODAY, Hoda Kotb began her career as a reporter for NBC News and Dateline NBC in April 1998, having previously worked for several affiliate networks, including an ABC station in New Orleans.

In addition, she later started to co-host TODAY's fourth hour alongside Jenna Bush Hager and Kathie Lee Gifford.

Then, after the previous host, Matt Lauer resigned due to charges of s*xual misconduct, she assumed the post of co-anchor and collaborated with Savannah Guthrie and other hosts for five years.

As per Celebrity Net Worth, in 2024, Hoda Kotb's estimated net worth is $30 million. This stems from her various pursuits in addition to hosting TODAY. She was also the author of six best-selling novels. Additionally, from 2015 to 2022, Hoda Kotb held her own SiriusXM radio show twice a week.

Moreover, she told Forbes on October 6, 2022, in their 50 over 50 interview that she was a worker and a grinder. She went on to say that she was aware of her lack of talent and her lack of strong position.

However, she was a grinder and one thing she was good at was getting back up after falling. She further claimed that she would always get back up, even after falling a thousand times.

No announcement was made right away regarding Hoda Kotb's replacement.
