Erica Mena was recently criticized by a man named Aaron the Plumber, claiming that she was disrespectful to black men who participated in her new dating show, Two Ways with Erica Mena. The show was announced earlier this year and a premiere date is yet to be confirmed.
A video of Aaron is trending on social media, where he addresses his experience on the show. The clip was originally posted on TikTok Aaron started by introducing himself in the video. He then said:
"I got exploited looking for love."
He further stated:
"I had to show crack in, I was gonna do some real punch in, you know, and they are going to try to twist up the narrative, and try to make it seem I come transphobic, I'm emotional, and a multitude of other things that are not true."
Aaron said he left the show and the makers wanted him to return. He further stated:
"I don't wanna get back on the show because Erica Mena is in fact racist towards black men. She been disrespecting black men from day 1."
Aaron clarified that he is not transphobic or homophobic and he loves everyone. He said that he would file charges on Erica for assault, adding that if he had done something like that, he would have been arrested. He continued:
"This has been so depressing. It's been so stressful for me. My life changed overnight after a viral moment. I didn't know what I was signing up for."
The clip then shifted to a moment where Aaron was standing in front of the West Los Angeles Police Station. He revealed that an executive for Zeus Network got in touch with him, saying that he had a lot of companies under his payroll that would prevent Aaron from revealing his story to the entire world.
As the video ended, Aaron slammed the executive alongside Zeus Network for supporting Erica Mena's actions. Meanwhile, an official response is currently awaited from Erica's side.
Erica Mena signed the new show after her removal from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta
The CSI: Cyber star was in the headlines last year after she argued with Ice Spice on Love & Hip Hop, calling the latter a "monkey." The dispute was linked to Ice Spice's friendship with Mena's ex-husband, Safaree Samuels, which reportedly led to Mena and Samuels' separation.
Erica Mena was immediately fired from the show and VH1 confirmed that she would not appear in the upcoming season. Although Mena did not respond to the controversy at the time, she later apologized in a statement shared with Page Six.
Mena said that she never wanted to hurt anyone through her comment, adding that she would work to not repeat the mistake. She also stated:
"As a woman of color and the mother of two black children, I want to make it clear that my use of that word was not in any way racially driven."
The actress then joined a new show for Zeus Network, titled Two Ways with Erica Mena. The upcoming project would be an LGBT dating show where men and women would participate and try to defeat each other, with one of them to be included among Mena's final pick in the end.
Mena announced the auditions for the show through Instagram in May this year. The teaser was shared on April 26, 2024, and it featured Erica speaking to the camera wearing a glittering outfit.
