"I just don’t tend to find that very funny"— Dylan Sprouse on refusing to deliver fat joke about 'Suite Life' mom Kim Rhodes

The Suite Life of Zack & Cody alum, Dylan Sprouse recently spoke to SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen in his show, Andy Cohen Live on August 1, 2024, and revealed how he refused to deliver a fat joke about Kim Rhodes, who was pregnant at the time. Stating how he does not find fat jokes to be funny, Dylan Sprouse said:

“I also just don’t really think fat jokes are funny. There’s a better joke somewhere else unless you’re talking about yourself. Unless it’s self-referential, which I find is fun. But if you’re pointing the finger at people and talking about how they look, I just don’t tend to find that very funny in general. I think there are better jokes.”

Dylan Sprouse also revealed that he was roughly 14 or 15 years old when the incident took place. The host of the show, Andy, then asked Sprouse how he gathered the strength to say no to his producer at such a young age. To this, Dylan Sprouse responded by saying:

“I mean, you’d be amazed at what having your own show at 11 will do for your confidence.”

The two then joked about how Dylan Sprouse proved to be a “benevolent king.”

As Dylan Sprouse’s interview with Andy Cohen went viral, the netizens have been appreciating the actor for standing up for his onscreen mother and fellow actor, Kim Rhodes. Dylan Sprouse seems to be quite close to his onscreen mom, Rhodes, who also appreciated him during a Back to the Best podcast episode telecasted in November 2023.

At the time, she also highlighted this incident of Dylan refusing to pass “fat jokes” on her, as she said:

"I got pregnant when I was on the show, and of course, the show dealt with it by making fat jokes. One of my favourite memories is when Dylan had a line that was a fat joke, and he just kept skipping over it. It was like in the middle of a chunk of dialogue, so he kept skipping this laugh line."

She then revealed how the executive producer of the show yelled at the child star. Dylan fired back at him, as Rhodes recalled him saying:

‘I would not disrespect any woman that way, let alone this woman. You write something funny, and I’ll say it. That’s my little man.”

The Suite Life of Zack & Cody became an instant hit amongst the masses, winning many awards and nominations including the Emmy Awards, The Kids’ Choice Awards, the Asian Excellence Award, the Young Artist Award, the Young Hollywood Awards, and even the Australian Kids’ Choice Awards.
