The View's co-host and former White House communications staff Alyssa Farah Griffin recently got candid about starting a family and her pregnancy journey. On Monday, December 2, 2024, she joined series producer Brian Teta on the The View: Behind the Table podcast to share that she and her husband are going through IVF. She opened up about the process, adding:
"I wanted to share it for a couple of reasons. I had no idea at my age how hard this actually would be. I'm only 35 and, to me, I was like, I've got plenty of time, this won't be that difficult."
The View's co-host further shared her frustration, saying that despite her being healthy, working out, and eating right, her "body was just not cooperating." She mentioned that she and her husband have been hoping and trying to get pregnant for around a year and a half, but it wasn't happening naturally. Talking about the IVF process, she said:
"We made the decision to move forward with IVF. This is my second cycle, so, tomorrow I will be in the doctor's office dealing with that."
Speaking of dealing with IVF, Alyssa Farah Griffin also painted a picture of what it was like to commit to staying on schedule throughout the process. She shared that she was giving herself "IVF injections at midnight at CNN" on election night as she was working till four in the morning.
Alyssa Farah Griffin shares her "uncomfortable" IVF journey
Alyssa Farah Griffin shared additional details about her IVF journey on Monday on The View: Behind the Table podcast. She said things were a little easier for her throughout her first cycle, with no meltdowns, no crying, and no hormonal swings, which got her "kinda cocky" about the entire process. However, she admitted that her second IVF cycle wasn't as comfortable as the first one. She said:
"The second one, I've been a wreck. I've not felt myself, I've been tired, I've been emotional, you feel uncomfortable in your body."
Alyssa Farah Griffin added that she wanted to share this part of her IVF journey because she was "surprised by how hard it was." She further said that her second IVF cycle experience was contrary to what women usually hear about the process, so she wanted to paint a clearer picture for those considering IVF.
However, despite the struggles, Alyssa Farah Griffin still urges anyone considering getting the treatment to go through with it. She remains hopeful about the entire process, saying:
"There is hope, and you just have to kind of be present in the process as you're in it. There's a light at the end of the tunnel."
The 35-year-old added that she and her husband will "get there," and that she will keep everyone informed about it. Griffin also made a shoutout to her The View co-hosts, sharing how they have been supportive throughout her IVF journey. She said:
"Sara Haines has been just beyond supportive and helpful in this process, and Sunny [Hostin] has, too. She's had her own journey with this!"
Alyssa Farah Griffin ended her IVF revelation by joking that if she ever had a meltdown while on air, the viewers would now know the reason behind it.
