Ellen DeGeneres, the iconic comedian and talk show host, announced her retirement from Hollywood after Ellen’s Last Stand-Up tour. During a performance at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa on July 1, she revealed that she would no longer be in the limelight after her final performances, which will be recorded for a Netflix special.
This decision holds significant meaning for fans who have followed her journey from comedy to daytime television. DeGeneres addressed her audience directly, stating that her Netflix special would be her final public performance. When asked by fans if she would consider returning to movies or possibly exploring Broadway, DeGeneres firmly stated that she has no intentions of continuing her career in Hollywood.
She said during her performance in Santa Rosa,
"This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done."

These allegations included claims of racism, s*xual misconduct, and intimidation behind the scenes, which led to an internal investigation by WarnerMedia and the firing of three producers.
During her performance though, DeGeneres talked about how these allegations affected her and everything else since then. She admitted being tough at times but denied being mean saying that it was unfortunate that the show ended on such a bad note. It is also difficult when behind-the-scenes issues are happening in one’s life as DeGeneres put it during this period- especially concerning public perception.

What led to the cancelation of The Ellen DeGeneres Show?
The Ellen DeGeneres Show ended in 2022, after a successful 19-year run. However, during its final years, the show was overshadowed by serious allegations of workplace misconduct. Reports emerged that shed light on an alleged toxic working environment where racism, sexual harassment, and bullying were common.
In addition, there was dissatisfaction among the crew about how payments were handled during the COVID-19 pandemic. These disclosures sparked widespread negative reactions towards DeGeneres in spite of her on-screen image as a caring person.
WarnerMedia’s internal probe acknowledged that changes needed to be made resulting in the termination of some key producers. DeGeneres apologized for letting herself down and not maintaining the environment she had wanted for her show.
