American actress Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie Howard on HBO's hit drama Euphoria, is eagerly anticipating her return to the role in the upcoming third season. Filming for the new season is set to begin in January 2025, and Sweeney couldn't be more thrilled to dive back into the character that has become one of her most beloved roles.

Sweeney shared in an interview with People on Monday,

"I'm very excited to jump back into Cassie. She is definitely one of the most special characters for me and I love my Euphoria family, so I look forward to it," the actress stated.

As for what lies ahead for Cassie in the new season, Sweeney expressed a desire to further explore the character's darker, more chaotic side.

"I love crazy Cassie, so the crazier, the better for me," she admitted.

However, when asked more questions about Cassie’s future, Sydney Sweeney answered that she is as much in the dark as the audience. “Honestly, I don’t know anything about it,” she said, which means even she is not sure what the show’s creators have in store for her character.

This might not, however, be out of the ordinary because Sweeney has stated before that the show is shrouded in a lot of secrecy like the Marvel franchise. During an interview in March 2024, she quipped about the challenges of discussing Euphoria without spilling any plot details and noted that discussing the show is as daunting as discussing Marvel.

Cassie’s plot in season 2 of Euphoria was dramatic and intense. Towards the end of the series, Cassie went on stage interrupting her sister Lexi, portrayed by Maude Apatow, when she was acting in a high school play based on scenes from Cassie’s life.

This scene showed the dramatic side of Cassie’s character and her struggle after a breakup with Nate Jacobs, portrayed by Jacob Elordi, and the conflict between her and her best friend Maddy, portrayed by Alexa Demie.

Besides Euphoria, Sydney Sweeney has been steadily establishing herself in Hollywood through diverse characters. Besides The White Lotus, Sweeney appeared in Reality, a movie where she played the role of Reality Winner, a whistleblower. She also acted with Glen Powell in the 2023 released romantic comedy movie Anyone But You making her well-known in the movie industry.

Sweeney has dabbled in endorsements, particularly with the widely-known footwear brand HEYDUDE. In her work with the brand, Sweeney wanted to present another facet of herself, one that is more personal and authentic.

"Everyone knows the Sydney Sweeney that is on the carpet and in L.A. and on sets, but not everyone really gets to know Syd," she explained.

She added that the inspiration behind her campaign with HEYDUDE comes from her desire to share a more intimate side of her life.
