Zendaya, the star of HBO's hit series Euphoria, recently addressed claims that she is allegedly responsible for the delay in production for Season 3. In an interview with Vanity Fair published on November 13, the 28-year-old actress denied the allegations, clarifying her availability and readiness to return to the show.

"I will say, I have been off for a couple of years, so not delayed because of my [schedule]… I've been open, just waiting," Zendaya stated.

The actress noted that although she had two major film releases this year, Dune: Part Two and Challengers, both projects were completed in 2022. Despite her busy schedule in the past, Zendaya revealed she has not worked on a set for nearly two years.

"I haven't been on a set in, like, two years almost. I'm a little bit terrified. I'm like, 'Can I even do this anymore?'" she said.

The Emmy Award winner admitted feeling "rusty" and even questioned her ability to act after the extended break. However, Zendaya assured fans that Euphoria is set to resume production in January. While she has yet to see scripts or details for the upcoming season, she expressed excitement about the series' future.

"I'm excited to see what everyone has been working on and what the future looks like for Euphoria," she added.

The actress also emphasized her commitment to her character, Rue Bennett, promising to "do justice by the people who love and care about" her.

Zendaya denies tensions with Sam Levinson amid speculation about Euphoria season 3 changes

Zendaya's comments come after a report released earlier this year that her growing movie production business was the cause of the delay. The Hollywood Reporter reported in July 2024 that an insider close to Euphoria creator Sam Levinson said, "It was all about [Zendaya]." The report also suggested that Zendaya and Levinson's relationship had "cooled," leading to tensions on set.

Despite the speculation, Zendaya's recent comments appear to refute the notion that she had any role in the production delays. Euphoria which came out in June 2019, hasn't been airing new episodes since February 2022. HBO had previously delayed the third season for several reasons.

They confirmed in July that shooting would commence sometime in early 2025. Reportedly, season 3 will step forward in time, and characters played by Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney will be shown as having left high school.

The next season is set up for some massive alterations such as the artist portraying Fezco "Fez" O'Neill, Angus Cloud who will be missing from the show. Cloud accidentally died of a drug overdose in July 2023.

Meanwhile, fans continue to be worried about the fate of Rue and the show's further life despite some rumors speculating that the third season might be the last one. However, nothing has been officially confirmed by the show creators.

While Euphoria fans eagerly await Season 3, Zendaya has several other projects lined up. She is set to begin filming a new project soon and will reportedly join Christopher Nolan's next film.

Additionally, Zendaya is expected to reprise her role as MJ in the forthcoming Spider-Man 4, which is also slated to begin production next year.
