Oprah Winfrey’s close friend, Gayle King, recently revealed that the popular host is in the hospital because of a stomach virus. The confirmation came just after Oprah Winfrey was absent from CBS Mornings, as she was to appear on the show on June 11, 2024.

During a segment, Gayle King then clarified that she could not make it to the show because of a “serious” stomach bug.

“She had some kind of stomach thing – stomach flu – stuff was coming out of both ends. I won’t get too graphic. Needless to say, she ended up in the hospital, dehydration, and had to get an IV. It was a very serious thing.”

She continued and said,

“She will be okay. I hope she’s not mad at me for sharing that detail. But I wanted to make it clear, though, that it mattered to her and that it really bothered her that she couldn’t be here for you today.”

Oprah Winfrey’s spokesperson clarified she was now “recovering,” as she had “received an IV due to dehydration at the recommendation of the doctors.”
