The man behind the popular Amos Cookie enterprise, Wally Amos, has passed away at the age of 88. Wally’s kids confirmed the tragic news of his death and stated that he passed away due to the complications of dementia. His kids, Sarah, Michael, Gregory, and Shawn Amos said in a joint statement:

“With his Panama hat, kazoo, and boundless optimism, Famous Amos was a great American success story, and a source of Black pride. Our dad taught us the value of hard work, believing in ourselves, and chasing our dreams.”

Wally Amos was best known for his bite-sized chocolate chip cookies, which became an instant hit among the masses when he first opened his bakery in 1975 on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.

As per CNN, the bakery attracted many, including celebrities from the music industry and Hollywood. On the other hand, Wally Amos was also seen in the fifteenth episode of the eighth season of The Office, which was named Tallahassee. The episode aired on February 16, 2012, and was directed by Matt Sohn.

Wally Amos, best known for his famous Amos chocolate chip cookies, tragically passed away. While he was loved for his bakery items, he left the masses shocked when he appeared in the eighth season of the popular show, The Office. As per Fandom, it was the show’s 167th episode and was viewed by nearly 5 million people.

In the episode, Wally Amos enters at the end of the episode and starts giving a speech about success at the Sabre corporate office, however, he is interrupted by Nellie, who then asks him for his cookies. He then realises that he is just in the office because of his world-famous cookies.

On the other hand, apart from being called “the king of cookies,” his life story was captured by Content Media Group, who released a documentary on Wally’s life in 2020, called The Great Cookie Comeback: reBaking Wally Amos.

Apart from The Office, Wally was also seen in other TV shows and sitcoms. He was a part of The Jeffersons, as he was briefly seen in an episode of season 7. Thereafter, he also appeared in a few episodes of Taxi, and Shark Tank. Wally was also the host of the popular 1987 TV show, Learn to Read.

Apart from this, he has authored many books, including The Famos Amos Story: The Face That Launched a Thousand Chips, The Power in You, Live an Inspiring Life: 10 Secret Ingredients for Inner Strength, The Path to Success Is Paved with Positive Thinking and even The Power of Self Esteem.

Amos was married four times and is now survived by his four kids, Michael Amos, Gregory Amos, Sarah Amos and Shawn Amos. As Wally passed away, social media users and fans of the Amos cookies have been left grief-stricken, however, the family has not yet revealed details about his funeral and memorial services.
