Christina Applegate recently addressed concerns regarding her mental health following comments made on the MeSsy podcast, which she co-hosts with Jamie-Lynn Sigler. During a candid discussion, the 52-year-old actress shared she is currently battling depression and experiencing a significant lack of enjoyment in life. This admission prompted an outpouring of support and concern from fans and the public.

Applegate sought to reassure her supporters by emphasizing that her comments were not indicative of suicidal thoughts.

"By making such a big deal about it, you're making other people think, 'Oh, s---, I can't talk about this.' And that is not OK with me," she clarified. "It's important to be able to say these things. And, no, I'm not sitting here on suicide watch, OK? I am not. Nor have I ever been."

Applegate has not been shy to reveal to her fans that she has multiple sclerosis, an immune system disease that affects the central nervous system. This has unsettled her through mobility complications and incessant eye pain that has affected her mental health. In the June 4 episode, she expressed her deep feeling of being trapped in darkness, leading to concerns about her safety.

The diagnosis has led to significant mobility issues and chronic eye pain, exacerbating her mental health challenges. In a previous episode, she shared her feelings of being "trapped in darkness," which resulted in widespread concern for her well-being.

Since announcing her diagnosis in August 2021, Christina Applegate and her co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler have used their podcast to discuss living with MS openly. Sigler, diagnosed with MS in 2001, supported Applegate, sharing her own experiences and commending Applegate for normalizing the idea that it’s okay to not be okay.

"I dare anyone to be diagnosed with MS or any kind of chronic illness that has taken who you were prior to that moment and go, 'This is great.' You know?" Applegate remarked. "No, you have moments of feeling, 'This is tiring and I don't want to do this.' But you do it, and by having friends like you and my beautiful friends that I have saying this s--- out loud, it releases the pressure in the balloon."

Christina Applegate's candidness about her struggles with depression and MS aims to foster a supportive dialogue around mental health. She reiterated the importance of seeking help, noting that she made an appointment with her therapist, a significant step for her.

Christina Applegate gave her first on-camera sit-down interview in 2021 for her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis on Good Morning America. In the interview with host Robin Roberts, Applegate described living with the disease felt like "kind of in hell." She mentioned that going out in public was very difficult for her system, though she appreciates the support.

Christina Applegate also answered questions in a segment with actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler from The Sopranos, who has been battling with Multiple Sclerosis at 20. The two were raising awareness for their new podcast, MeSsy, which began episodes on March 19. The podcast was to be an unfiltered conversation about coping with daily life with MS and other chronic diseases.

In the interview, Christina Applegate finally said she was diagnosed with MS in 2021, but she probably suffered from it for 6 or 7 years. She remembered experiencing her first signs of it, like her leg giving out on her during the shoot of the first season of Dead to Me, She thought it was because of fatigue or heat exhaustion or whatever they call it and she shrugged it off as that but when it got worse, she went to the hospital.
