CEO of DC Studios James Gunn will be directing three episodes of Peacemaker season 2 as revealed by ScreenTime on X on June 11, 2024. ScreenTime posted on X, a collage of John Cena and Gunn with the caption "James Gunn is directing 3 episodes of 'PEACEMAKER' Season 2", updating fans and viewers.
Created by James Gunn for HBO Max, it is based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The storyline revolves around Christopher Smith, who after recovering from his injuries is forced to join a black ops squad. The main motive of black ops is to eliminate alien butterflies that have captured human bodies all over the world.
The official synopsis for season one of this show reads as—
"PEACEMA....explores the continuing story of the character that John Cena reprises in the aftermath of Gunn's 2021 film "The Suicide Squad" - a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it."

The first season of this show is the only DCEU TV series, with the second season transitioning to the DCU universe and following events after Corenswet’s 2025 Superman.

Everything we know about Peacemaker season 2
The second season was originally ordered in February 2022, and Gunn was supposed to write and direct the whole season comprising eight episodes.
However, in October 2022, when director Gunn was made co-CEO of DC, his focus shifted to the 2025 Superman film donning David Corenswet in the new Superman avatar.
Also note: James Gunn’s upcoming film Superman is a major project and is set to hit the big screens in 2025. It will star David Corenswet as Superman or Clark Kent. Other than Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan will star as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor among many others.
In March 2024, James Gunn revealed that Peacemaker would begin shooting its second season. Filming started in April 2024 at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.
Gunn will serve as showrunner and director for the second season, starring John Cena, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, and Frank Grillo, among others. Although no release date has been announced, more news is expected once production wraps up.
