Just when things are starting to look brighter for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), which has seen a massive fall since Avengers: Endgame, we have another exciting update from the Vision series, which is set to release in 2026. The iconic James Spader, who played the role of Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron, will return to reprise it in the series.

While it's too early to know what this WandaVision spinoff will hold, this also confirms that Ultron will be a part of the narrative in the series. Out of the shows that have become a part of the MCU, WandaVision is perhaps the most successful one.

Apart from Spader, Paul Bettany will also be reprising his role as Vision in the series.

Interestingly, Vision was the one who burnt Ultron out of the systems and managed to finally beat the sentient intelligence in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Moreover, Ultron had created Vision's body to use the powers of the mind stone. So, the two characters are linked in more than one way and it would be interesting to see Bettany and Spader trade off once again in the upcoming Vision series.

How are Vision and Ultron alive for the Vision series?

We have very limited knowledge about the upcoming series based on Bettany's character, but it is expected to take place after the events of Endgame. This also means that both Vision and Ultron are dead in the timeline. Barring the fact that Marvel has been bringing back all the dead characters, the series will hopefully explain how the characters return.

Vision was resurrected as an alternate (and much whiter) version in WandaVision, which was due to the Scarlett Witch's (played by Elizabeth Olsen) magic. This version of Vision may continue in the series.

As for Ultron, the return is much easier to explain as Ultron is still an artificial intelligence. But as per the second Avengers movie, Ultron was burnt out by Vision and since Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is dead (and recast as Dr. Doom), it is unlikely that someone would create Ultron again.

Anyhow, the character is going to make a comeback one way or the other, and whatever it is will surely be a fun watch.

Vision series is set to be a part of a trilogy consisting of WandaVision and Agatha All Along. The second series in the trilogy is set for a premiere in September 2024.

We are yet to find out more about the Vision series. For now, all we know is Paul Bettany and James Spader are in the cast, and the series will possibly take place after the events of WandaVision. Terry Matalas is helming the series. For those who don't know, he is the famed showrunner of Star Trek: Picard.

While the title is also yet to be confirmed, reports suggest that it could be Vision Quest, hinting at the new version of the character's search for a purpose.

More updates are expected to come in soon. Stay tuned.
