Of the many ways the massive fires have impacted the industry, Jeopardy! is the latest victim of the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. As reported by Deadline earlier, the famous game show is halting its production for the week. The episodes that were slated to be filmed in Sony’s lot in Culver City, where the usual filming takes place, will now be rescheduled to a later date depending on the situation.

Jeopardy! joins After Midnight and The Price Is Right, among other shows, that have stopped filming due to the wildfires. Other scripted television shows without live audiences have also gone on a hiatus due to the wildfire. Grey's Anatomy and Doctor Odyssey are among such shows that remain on hiatus after going on a break on January 8, 2025.

As of now, many shows and productions have joined the list and it is unclear when the work in Hollywood can begin normally again.

Will Jeopardy!'s schedule be altered due to the hiatus?

As the show is based on live audiences and new contestants in almost every episode, it is very likely that the show will suffer the consequences of the wildfires. Some episodes will likely be repeated as a result. Since the show airs every weekday, it is unlikely that it would be able to make up for this hiatus without some reruns.

Moreover, the wildfires continue to rage on as of today, and it seems that the road to recovery and normalcy will be a long one. This also means that it remains unclear when Jeopardy! will be able to go back to its normal filming schedule.

The fans of the show would remember that the 40th season of the show was amply hampered by the WGA strike and it took a long time to return to normalcy.

As it stands, the wildfires in Los Angeles are far from contained and it will perhaps take quite a while longer for it to conclude. It has already killed at least 24 people and destroyed over 40,000 acres of land along with over 12,300 structures.

The entirety of the film and television industries are expected to suffer from its aftermath.

More about Jeopardy!

Jeopardy! is an American television game show that was originally created by Merv Griffin and gained instant recognition for its offbeat format. The game show, instead of following the traditional route, gives contestants general knowledge clues in the form of answers. To win, contestants must figure out the "question."

It kicked off on March 30, 1964, and aired until January 3, 1975, on NBC. Since then it has seen many revivals, but the one that stuck started airing on September 10, 1984, and is currently on its 41st season.

The show continues to spawn new spinoffs like Pop Culture Jeopardy!, and has remained one of the most popular shows in its genre.

More details about the show and its filming will be available soon. Stay tuned for more updates.
