TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson issued a health update, revealing that he had an emergency heart procedure after his health deteriorated after coming home from holiday. Jeremy Clarkson, who has a net worth of $70 million per Celebrity Net Worth, is best known as the presenter on BBC's Top Gear. Writing in his The Sunday Times column on Saturday, October 19, 2024, Clarkson shared the symptoms he experienced.

Jeremy Clarkson was on a holiday in the Indian Ocean when he "struggled" with swimming. At some point, he mentioned that he could hardly walk the stairs "without holding someone's hands." The 64-year-old then explained:

"Those problems all manifested themselves in one day, which made the rest of my holiday extremely relaxing because all I did was sit in a chair drinking wine and eating cheese."

Fast forward to when he went home after the holiday, the TV show host revealed that there was a "sudden deterioration" in his heath. He woke up one day, and he felt "clammy" and that there was some "tightness in [his] chest," and later, he experienced "pins and needles in [his] left arm."

He was brought to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford by an ambulance. He had undergone checks, and they found out that it wasn't a heart attack. He explained his condition, saying:

"It seems that of the arteries feeding my heart with nourishing blood, one was completely blocked and the second of three was heading that way."

The TV presenter then revealed that a stent was inserted into his artery to keep it open before he went home the next morning.

Jeremy Clarkson has a fortune of $70 million

Most people know Jeremy Clarkson as one of the faces behind the BBC series Top Gear. The decade-long gig brought Clarkson fame as a presenter and journalist in the motoring world, as well as helped him build his $70 million fortune.

Most of his net worth is from working as a presenter in the original Top Gear series, that launched from 1988 to 2000. He left the show in 1999.

However, that wasn't the last time Clarkson and Top Gear would collaborate as he again took the presenter role for the new Top Gear format, which debuted in 2002. James May and Richard Hammond joined him in the new series, and they remained a trio for over a decade.

Clarkson reportedly had a modest $4 million annual salary from the show, per Celebrity Net Worth, but his 30% rights to the franchise mean he earns from licensing deals, syndication, merchandise, and more.

In 2013, BBC bought back all outstanding stakes to take full control of the brand, reportedly netting Clarkson about $21 million. He left the show in 2015 after much controversy, including alleged racist remarks and punching a producer during filming.

The former Top Gear host would reunite with Hammond and May in 2016 for Amazon's The Grand Tour, which ran for six seasons.

Another series that brought Clarkson fame and fortune is his TV show Clarkson's Farm, where the cameras follow his venture in attempting to run a farm in the countryside without any previous farming experience. The show, which is a hit with a 9.0 score on IMDb, premiered in 2021, and season 4 is expected to release in 2025.

Besides presenting on TV shows and starring in his own television series, Jeremy Clarkson also writes for The Sunday Times, Toronto Star, and The Sun.
