"Kills the omen of death" - Jimmy Kimmel shares wild encounter with a hawk inside his house after son Billy's open heart surgery

In his opening monologue on Wednesday, May 29, Jimmy Kimmel, the Late Night show host, provided an update regarding his son, Billy’s third successful open heart surgery. He also included a video of his son's return from the hospital.

In the episode from Wednesday, he thanked everyone and recounted the whole story of Billy's surgery.

However, he also added that when the family got back home on Monday, May 27, they had to deal with chaos. Kimmel claimed that Billy noticed something was off while they were playing video games together an hour after they arrived home. There was a rogue hawk flying around the house.

Jimmy Kimmel then recalled that his wife was also quite alarmed when she spotted a mourning dove on the day of Billy's surgery since it is believed to be an omen of death. However, the hawk killed the dove. He continued the story and stated:

"We get home from the hospital and the hawk flies in and kills the mourning dove, kills the omen of death."

American host Jimmy Kimmel posted a picture of Billy smiling from the hospital bed on Instagram on Monday, May 27, stating that his kid had undergone his third open heart surgery. Kimmel then opened up about the same during the Wednesday episode of the show.

During the live broadcast of Jimmy Kimmell on Wednesday, May 29, he opened with:

"After an extra extra long holiday weekend we spent most of it at Children's Hospital [Los Angeles]. Our son Billy had an open heart surgery, he's doing very well. Thank you Cleo for the Edible Arrangement.”

He then went on to say:

"Let me tell you something, if there's one thing a seven-year-old boy loves it's an Edible Arrangement."

However, he continued, when the family got back home on Monday, they had to deal with some disorder. The show host also claimed that Billy noticed something was off while they were playing video games. Speaking more on the same subject, he said:

"We went in the hospital on Thursday morning and we got home Monday and not even an hour after we walk in the house, from the hospital with our son, this happens.”

Then Kimmel posted a video clip of himself that his wife Molly had taken in their kitchen, where Kimmel could be seen trying to get a hawk to fly back out with a broom that had flown inside.

Kimmel went on to describe his son's response to the entire incident, saying:

"He said, 'Dad, there are two birds in the house!'"

Before the hawk flew across the kitchen and both parents urged Billy to go upstairs, the prey bird fumbled in the corner of the glass windows while Kimmel tried to guide it towards a window. Eventually, the bird went out the sliding glass door.

The celebrity then recalled that his wife spotted another bird in the house. She was alarmed when she saw a mourning dove on the day before Billy's surgery, which is said to be an omen of death. He added that the hawk killed the mourning dove when it flew in. After the hawk flew out, the family spotted the dead dove.

Billy, the 7-year-old son of Jimmy Kimmel, had his third open heart surgery which went well. Billy had his first open heart surgery to treat his Tetralogy of Fallot at the age of three days after the doctors made this diagnosis.

Kimmel disclosed in 2017 that his son has had a cardiac issue since birth. Kimmel stated that they hoped Billy's third operation would be his last after revealing that the young child had had two previous ones.

Fortunately, though, the late-night host reported that Billy is now doing well.
