"Like Fox is objective??" — Internet react to Stephen Colbert's audience breaking out in laughter when he says CNN is objective

Comedian and political commentator Stephen Colbert has become the talk of the town after his recent comment on CNN. On the August 10 episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host was in conversation with CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins. The anchor was seen talking about the change in the political environment with Biden stepping down as the Democratic Presidential candidate last month.

Colbert then commented that the multinational news channel had been ‘objective’ in their reporting.

“I know you guys are objective over there that you just report the news as it is”, said Stephen Colbert.

However, his comment was interrupted by a sudden laughter from the audience. Collins asked whether his comment was supposed to be a laugh line. Although Colbert’s response was negative, he added ‘I guess it is’. After the clip from the episode was shared on X, netizens reacted to it. While some commented about the news anchor, others added their reactions about the news agency in question.

Some users even reacted politically by mentioning ‘biases’ and affiliations.

Stephen Colbert and Kaitlan Collins also talked about President Trump

Collins had covered the Trump administration for four years. Stephen Colbert wanted to know what was happening in the unseen world of Trump. The anchor mentioned how political affairs have changed after the recent convention. Normally, she would receive texts about interviews and complaints about how they (the media agency) would phrase a piece of news. However, the same wasn’t the case during this convention.

When Colbert asked her whether she knew about Biden stepping down, she replied,

“As a political reporter, the way to be smart and have a long career is you don’t make bets. You follow the story as it happens. It seemed like the signs were pointing to President Biden stepping down.”

Stephen Colbert’s show started in 2015 and he hosted the Comedy Central program The Colbert Report from 2005 to 2014. He was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in 2006 and 2012.
