The Walking Dead has been a mainstay of mainstream television since 2010. Even though the parent show may have ended, the story of brave warriors in a world infested by the undead still continues in the form of several spinoffs.
So while Daryl Dixon tells the story of The Walking Dead crossbowman in France, The Walking Dead: Dead City pairs Negan and Maggie, two characters with great animosity towards one another in New York City. Offscreen, the bond between all the characters in the universe remains as strong as it has ever been, and actor Louis Puech Scigliuzzi feels like newcomers to the universe are made to feel at home.
The young actor expressed his admiration for The Walking Dead veterans Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan upon meeting them at Comic Con:
"When you see Lauren Cohan, the actress who played Maggie and... Negan. And they’re like…all so sweet and nice people. Everyone gets on so well there. And that’s why the friendship between all those characters is so real and realistic."
What impact did Daryl Dixon's arrival in France have on The Walking Dead universe?
While speaking to Sportskeeda during a roundtable for The Walking Dead: The Book of Carol, Scigliuzzi was asked how his character would have fared had Daryl Dixon not entered his life. The actor replied:
"Probably be dead."
Eric Ebouaney, who plays Fallou in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon immediately shut down this dark train of thought:
"No no, he’d still probably be with the nuns."
Upon reflection, Scigliuzzi agreed with his assessment:
"I think my character would still be in the abbey honestly. And wouldn’t have been able to go to The Nest. And that would have changed a lot in their lives."
What about the tough and rugged Fallou, who's been at the forefront of the fight against Genet's forces in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol? Ebouaney replied:
"I would have kept fighting as a warrior. As a fearless warrior. Against all those people. Against Genet’s people. In this post-apocalypic world."
The Walking Dead has had several chapters over the years, but the audience is forever starved for zombie-mutilation fare, ensuring that the show has a place in the consciousness of one and all to this day. Ebouaney explained why:
"I don’t think it’s only because of the walkers and the zombies. It’s the human beings. I think this show shows you all the turmoil of the human beings. The good and the bad. And we can have these two sides as we said earlier. And we can relate because of that."
Ebouaney went on to state how the Walking Dead Universe is addicted to the characters of Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier, the heart and soul of The Book of Carol:
"Mostly because of that. And Melissa, Norman are so amazing. I mean we are getting addicted to them."
