Mamie Laverock's health update: Actress shares video of her taking her first steps since falling from balcony in May

Mamie Laverock recently took her first steps after falling from a five-story balcony in May 2024. In a now-deleted video update on Mamie Laverock's official Facebook page on August 2, the actress was standing up and taking baby steps after an accident in May when she fell from a balcony.

The caption read,

"Thank you surgeons, thank you prayers, thank you Lord. Mamie has just taken her first steps."

The actress was being held from both sides by two medical staff in the video as she expressed hesitation, saying she did not know if she could still walk. The staff members reassured her and told her they were "happy to help."

What happened to Mamie Laverock?

Actress Mamie Laverock was on life-support after a fall from a five-story balcony in May 2024. Before the fall, the actress suffered a medical emergency on May 11 and was taken to a hospital in Winnipeg. Weeks after she was admitted to the hospital, the actress suffered another tragedy and fell from the balcony on May 26 and was transported to another room in the hospital.

Her parents, Rob, and Nicole Compton, then set up a GoFundMe page and raised $39,022 for their daughter. They shared the news of her fall on the page, saying,

"We are deeply saddened to report that on May 26th, Mamie, who has been in intensive treatment for the past two weeks was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories. She sustained life-threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support."

Two months later, her parents closed the GoFundMe page on July 17, and Mamie posted an update thanking people for all their support. In the update, Mamie wrote,

"Thank you so much. I don't even know what to say. My heart is full."

She also said she had no words to describe her gratitude and signed off the message writing "MAMIE."

Amidst recovering from the fall, the actress celebrated her 20th birthday in the hospital. Her mother, Nicole, shared an update on Facebook featuring a photo of her hugging her daughter Mamie Laverock with the caption,

"Mamie moved onto her stomach, pushed herself up and held onto me...at that time we realized we could have our first hug."

In the caption, she also thanked her husband Rob for capturing the moment.
