Actor Martin Short and singer Hozier are set to appear on Saturday Night Live (SNL) during the final episode of 2024 for its landmark 50th season. On Monday, December 2, 2024, the show's official X account revealed the upcoming hosts and musical artists as it returns from its three-week hiatus for Thanksgiving.
Short and Hozier will be featured as guests for the December 21 episode, which will be the last for 2024.

December 21's episode to mark Martin Short's fifth time hosting and Hozier's second appearance as a guest musician on SNL
SNL announced that Paul Mescal (Gladiator II fame) will host its December 7 show, with country and hip-hop artist Shaboozey (A Bar Song (Tipsy) fame) serving as the musical guest. Comedian Chris Rock is set to host the following week, on December 14, with Gracie Abrams (J.J. Abrams' daughter, who gained fame closing for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour) as the musical guest.
Short and Hozier would take the stage on December 21. This is the former's fifth time hosting. He was an SNL cast member from 1984 to 1985 and first hosted in December 1986 (notably, he co-hosted in December 2022 with Steve Martin).
This will also be Hozier's second appearance as a guest musician on SNL, the first being in October 2014. The episode will air just weeks after the release of his deluxe album, Unreal Unearth: Unending, which drops on December 6.
Martin Short recently starred in season 4 of the hit mystery comedy show, Only Murders in the Building, alongside Steve Martin and Selena Gomez. The recent season ran from August 2024 to October 2024. It was met with critical acclaim, with Rachel Aroesti of The Guardian calling it "genuinely gripping as a murder mystery" yet "screamingly funny."
SNL's season 50 premiered on September 28, 2024, with host Jean Smart and musical guest Jelly Roll. The comedy show will celebrate its anniversary with a live primetime special on February 16, 2025.
