On June 11, American actor and comedian Rob Schneider appeared on radio on The Kyle & Jackie O Show where he weighed on Will Smith infamously slapping Chris Rock during the Academy Awards 2022.

“Will Smith is a tw*t. Will Smith has been hiding the fact of who he really is and it was exposed that night that he’s really an a*shole,” Rob Schneider stated.

He went on to say that he wasn’t “allowed” to comment at the time as he was part of the SAG-AFTRA committee that was “supposed to punish him.”

When one of the hosts Jackie O asked him to “hang on a second” and explain what he meant, as every time she met the Bad Boys: Ride or Die star, he was one of the “nicest, most wonderful” men, Rob Schneider responded by claiming Will Smith a “liar” and a “complete, utter fraud.”

In the wake of Rob Schneider’s remarks on Fresh Prince, the internet has been having diverse reactions. Here are some of them from X slamming the former SNL cast member.

“I love Rob, but move on, man,” a person wrote.
“Imagine still caring about this in 2024,” another person wrote.
“Dude, if this is all you’ve got, just turn the mic off. This is ancient history,” one person wrote.
“This [is] how people that can’t fight talk,” an individual wrote.

A few others also sided with Rob Schneider.

“Can’t believe I agree with @RobSchneider about something!!!! He is 100 [percent] correct here,” a person wrote.
“I don’t like Rob, but he’s not wrong here. What Will did with zero repercussions is wrong,” another person wrote.
“I believe him, I love him since ever,” one person wrote.
“Chris Rock and Rob Schneider are boys, this is just someone standing up for their friend," another person wrote.

For those unaware, the Oscar committee banned Will Smith for 10 years for slapping Chris Rock on stage in 2022.

Rob Schneider calls out Academy Awards for being “politically correct” in the wake of Will Smith’s actions

On Tuesday, at The Kyle & Jackie O Show, Rob Schneider called Will Smith an “a*shole” and a “douchebag” for infamously slapping Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards, and tagged him as a “liar and a complete, utter fraud.”

He went on to claim that the Men In Black star showed his true colors to the world when he lost his temper and hit the Fargo actor and revealed that his nice guy persona was a façade.

“The thing is that’s how politically correct the Academy is. That they were so cowardly because if I would have done that, they would have been hauled off to prison. Because like they were so worried about being, you know, racist. The point is, violence is what it is,” the Leo actor mentioned.

Rob Schneider further continued by saying:

“And whether the color of your skin or your religion, it doesn’t matter if you commit a crime in front of other people, you get hauled out of there.”

The 60-year-old explained that when the incident happened, he was in a “sticky situation” being an “elected official” of the SAG-AFTRA committee and was not permitted to comment.

When the host Kyle Sandilands proclaimed that Smith was just “standing up for his missus,” Rob Schneider added “It doesn’t matter. You can’t hit another dude.”

The stand-up comic also stated that Rock made a “mild joke” and the I, Robot actor had no right to lay his hands on the man who was just “doing his job.”

“It’s a deep, dark thing to do that in front of all those people and to a really great legendary comedian, who’s literally the best comedian of our generation. You wouldn’t have this whole wave of comedy that came after if it wasn’t for Chris Rock. He’s kicked open the doors,” he said of his longtime friend.

Rob Schneider also shared that it took a long time for Chris Rock to process what happened and he “didn’t want to talk to anybody” in the wake of the slap.

“I don’t blame him. But it took him a while to get to where he could react to it because it was a lot,” he told the hosts. "He’s a very sensitive, great guy and he’s literally a genius.”

For those uninitiated, Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head in March 2022 during the Oscars ceremony. In response, Will Smith walked up to the stage and assaulted Rock by hitting him in the face. He then returned to his seat in the audience and shouted profanities at Chris.

Later that evening, Will Smith went on to win the Best Actor award for King Richard and apologized to the Academy Awards and others during his speech, but didn’t mention Rock. In the wake of this, he faced a public backlash with many debating whether he should be allowed to retain his honor.

The following day, Smith issued a mea culpa to Chris via social media and surrendered his Oscar membership, after reports of his potential suspension/ expulsion emerged. In April, he was banned from attending any AMPAS events for a decade.
