In a recent radio show at Heart, television personality Mark Wright jested at his wife Michelle Keegan's knack for always having the final say in their household.
On April 11, 2024, Wrighty Home — Mark and Michelle's joined Instagram account— shared a before-and-after clip of the hallway that caught trolls, precisely the giant chandelier hanging in the middle of the staircase.
Mark Wright, addressing the trolls on his radio show Club Classics, suggested that he initially did not like the chandelier. Taking a hilarious dig at his and showing gratitude to his followers, he said—
"So yeah, thanks, Instagram, for letting me know, and thanks for letting me know that I was corrected. It was the wrong chandelier. So Michelle, next time, I'm picking the light!"
Mark Wright's humorous jab at Michelle Keegan's household decisions
Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan, both beloved figures in the entertainment industry, have garnered widespread attention for their newly renovated house.
Through their joined Instagram account, the couple keeps the fans updated on the makeover of their mansion. However, the recently shared video clip divided the fans, with some questioning the choice of the chandelier.
Mark revealed in his radio show that after he posted the update last week, which received numerous comments, he reconsidered the initial choice. He said—
"As we sometimes do, we post our house updates on our Instagram account, and when we did that, we showed the chandelier off, and I can't tell you how many comments I got that made me think, why didn't I think of this at the start?"
He explained the details of the chandelier, which is a "load of hanging bulbs." Mark said—
"Basically, picture a light with loads and loads of hanging bulbs that are all different heights that you can't get to because it's hanging from the staircase in the middle."
Mark Wright, 37, suggested that in their household, his partner, Michelle Keegan, is the one who ultimately makes decisions and has the final say on everything.
In addition, Mark humorously suggested that Michelle did ask for his opinion, but he would rather stay quiet since the opinion does not seem to hold much weight. He said—
"Even when saying, Mark, what do you think? What do you think of this colour?' I'm like, 'Yeah, we should go for that one. Well, actually, no, we're going for that one. May as well just be quiet.'"
He further added—
"But when it came to picking a chandelier in our house like the light in the middle of our hallway that drops from the third floor ceiling, she designed it and drew it and I was like, What is that?"
The former TOWIE star added he initially doubted the chandelier his wife designed. Mark said he "really didn't like it," but later, when it hung, it looked amazing—
"When she drew it and designed it with the amazing company, I looked at it. I was like, this just doesn't work, and I really didn't like it, but I had no say as I said, but we went for it. We hung it, and it looks amazing."
On Wrighty Home's Instagram, Mark Wright stated that his and Michelle's vision for the house was centered around the hallway, especially the sweeping staircase and chandelier. They teamed up with Escalier and explained the vision to them. Mark added that he remembers Chris' words that he "will bring this to life exactly."
Mark Wright explained in the post that Michelle's vision for the chandelier was to have "golden raindrops falling from the sky." He further wrote that his partner wanted it more than just a hanging ceiling light but more of a "piece of art." They worked with Chantelle Lighting, a lighting manufacturer, to create this.
Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan married in 2015 at St Mary's Church in Bury St Edmunds and will soon celebrate their tenth anniversary.
Mark and Michelle's mansion - The forever home
As per Daily Mail, the couple reportedly bought their "forever home" in 2019 for £1.3 million ($1.6 million). One year later, they demolished the property to rebuild it from scratch, and permission from Epping Council was granted in July 2020, as reported.
The renovation process started in March 2021 and took three years to complete. White Georgian-style homes inspire Mark and Michelle's overall home décor with a modern twist.
The mansion in Essex has a master bedroom, home gym, spa, party room, separate bathrooms, built-in wardrobe, and a large outdoor pool.
The house is reportedly worth £3.5 million ($4.3 million).
