Outer Range canceled after 2 seasons

Amazon Prime’s Neo-Western thriller titled Outer Range has been a chartbuster for the franchise and was listed in the most-watched Prime Video list in the last week of May 2024. Created by Brian Watkins, this show stars big names including Josh Borlin, Imogen Poots, and Lili Taylor among others.

However, there is bad news for Outer Range range fans as the show is retiring after season 2. Outer Range season 3 is no longer in the books of Prime Video as announced by the streamer itself.

Season 2 of this Josh Borlin-led show premiered on May 16, 2024. The second season had a seven-episode long run. Charles Murray replaced Watkins in season 2 as the new showrunner for the franchise.

Reports indicate that the show's budget surpassed its financial returns, possibly due to high production costs related to geographical locations, actor salaries, and other expenses.

The Josh Borlin lead series ended on a mysterious note, the very same way it ended in season one, leaving audiences on a cliffhanger with more questions than answers and now it seems like this chapter of Prime Video will never be completed.

On July 4, Josh Borlin posted about the cancellation of season 3 on his Instagram page and said to the fans and creators of the show that—

"As much of a faux pas as I feel that it is for Amazon Prime to cancel our beloved show .... it will never minimize or detract from how great this idea, this diamond cast, and the hardest working crew I've ever encountered have been. As for creative integrity: 2-0. We win."
