Johansson's husband of four years and Che in their "Weekend Update" tradition on SNL write offensive jokes about each other and read them live without seeing them beforehand. As a result, Che has often written offensive material about Scarlet tricking Jost into reading it live.

Referring to the same, she said

"We need to go into witness protection after that night. Like, I am absolutely terrified we're gonna be targeted. It's so bad. I black out for that period of the night. I actually don't remember it."

"It is brutal. I feel like every year it gets worse" says Scarlett Johansson about her husband's SNL tradition

In a recent interview with Kelly Clarkson, Scarlett Johansson recalled feeling terrified after her husband, Colin Jost, and Michael Che's weekly SNL tradition of roasting each other. As a response, Kelly Clarkson reminded her of a recent episode that aired on May 18 where Scarlet was the subject.

In the episode, both the stars wrote offensive things about each other and then had them read them out live without seeing it first. In the episode, Scarlett Johansson's face next to ChatGPT's logo pops up with Jost reading out loud,

"ChatGPT has released a new voice assistant feature inspired by Scarlett Johansson's AI character in Her. Which I've never bothered to watch, because without that body, what's the point of listening."

While reacting to the segment Scarlett said,

"As soon as the picture came up, I was like (screams). It is brutal. It is brutal. I feel like every year it gets worse. It's just terrible. I mean, I really do, I actually don't remember that segment. I fully blacked out. And they do it at Christmas, too. It's like a little gift to each other."

In a December 2023 weekly swap update, Colin Jost was tricked into roasting Scarlett's movies while a poster of her in Black Widow and another poster of Coretta Scott King, Martin Luther King Jr's wife pops up. In the segment, he can be heard saying,

"New York state now allows movie theatres to serve alcohol, which is how I'm finally able to enjoy my wife's little art movies. I'm kidding, honey. I love all of your movies. And if you ask me, you're an even better black widow than Coretta Scott King."

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost tied the knot in 2020 after 3 years of dating and welcomed their first child together in 2021.
