"Shake you to your bones" - The Mayfair Witches cast on legendary actor Ted Levine joining season 2

Mayfair Witches cast members Harry Hamlin and Alyssa Jirrels spoke to Sportskeeda in a special press roundtable to promote season 2. Harry Hamlin reprises his role as Cortland Mayfair while Alyssa Jirrels plays Moira Mayfair, a Mayfair Witches season 2 regular.

While the cast boasts some big names including Alexandra Daddario and Ben Feldman of Superstore fame, Ted Levine's addition to the roster is certainly notable. Best known for playing Buffalo Bill in the legendary film Silence of The Lambs, Levine brings just as much terror into the role of Julien Mayfair.

Veteran actor Harry Hamlin had this to say about working with his on-screen father:

"Well, I guess I spent the most time with Ted. I mean talk about a commanding presence. And also, you know, someone who can shake you to your bones with a look."

Mayfair Witches star Alyssa Jirrels was taken in by Ted Levine's presence

When Silence of the Lambs came out with a stellar cast that included Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter and Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling; Buffalo Bill was the stuff of nightmares.

A serial killer who was so depraved that Starling had to call upon another fellow psychopath in Lecter to solve the case, it is a movie that still gives nightmares to everyone who watches it. Ted Levine's unforgettable performance and lines such as "It rubs the lotion on its skin, or it gets the hose again" have indeed become the stuff of legend.

Jirrels may exist in the world of the supernatural in Mayfair Witches season 2, but even she was amazed by Levine's acting style:

"I went and watched him a couple of the days that he was working. I just went and sat in Video Village. He would do something completely different every single take. Just little subtleties or big swinging choices. Completely different."

The Fatal Attraction (2023) star continued her praise for Levine:

"He’s quite a lovely guy. He’s very sweet but very intense. Extremely commanding on camera. I just really loved watching him because I thought that he has the ability to completely turn a scene over if he so chooses, which is really exciting to watch."

Cortland Mayfair is certainly a twisted character in Mayfair Witches and his arc is most certainly villainous. But even he exists in the shadow of his father, played by Levine, who is a chilling figure in his own right. As Hamlin said:

"All he has to do is give you the side eye. And my blood would run cold, you know. But what a great guy and we had a tremendous amount of fun on the set."

He added:

"He’s a fantastic dude to work with."

Created by Anne Rice, the world of the Mayfair Witches is replete with twists and turns, even more so in season 2, when Lasher, a supernatural being comes to life and begins to hunt the Mayfairs.
