Storm Reid left her fans disheartened after announcing her exit from Euphoria. As the show is progressing with its third season, Storm informed TMZ on January 24, 2025, that she would not be a part of the new installment, however, the actress is “excited to watch it.” She said:
“I’m not, but I’m so excited to watch it, I can’t wait. Just being with the whole crew and cast has been such an amazing experience, and I’m forever indebted to the show. I’ll miss them. I’ll miss hanging out with them but it’s going to be a good reason and I can’t wait to watch.”
Explaining the reason for her exit, Storm Reid said that she has “got stuff going on.” She added that she is about to graduate from USC, which has made it tough for her to be a part of the upcoming season.
However, as soon as Reid’s response made its way on social media, several netizens began pouring in their views. As an X user, @PopCrave posted about the same on the platform, another netizen wrote:
“She said “girl I moved on””
For the unversed, Reid had already confirmed her exit from the show in November, 2024, while talking to Rotten Tomatoes on the Governors Awards red carpet. Meanwhile, netizens continued to support the actress' decision to focus on her degree over returning to the show.
“Like be serious. 30+ year olds playing teenagers. The time has passed,” said another social media user.
“She ain't got no time to cry peeking around the corner,” added another.
“Literally no one is returning to this show,” exclaimed one more X user.
“Lol, a degree is way better than a role in Euphoria,” joked an internet user.
On the other hand, some fans pointed out how Euphoria has released only two seasons in the last six years.
“The show has 2 seasons in like 6 years, people move on with their lives,” commented one netizen.
“I don't blame her. Its been years and they haven't even filmed. Zendaya and Sydney sweeney been in like 6 movies since then already,” stated one more.
Storm Reid played the role of Gia in the two seasons of Euphoria
The American teen television drama, Euphoria aired its debut season in June 2019, and the second in January 2022. The cast of this HBO show includes Zendaya, Storm Reid, Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, and even Hunter Schafer.
The show, written by Sam Levinson, revolves around Ruby "Rue" Bennett (Zendaya) who struggles with drug addiction and tries to be sober to live a normal life. Storm Reid has played Gia, Rue’s younger sister. Throughout the two seasons, Gia is seen as a pillar of strength for the protagonist, and the character is loved by the masses.
Furthermore, Storm Reid spoke to TMZ about her exit, and she stated how she would miss the cast. Talking about the show's popularity, Reid mentioned:
“Euphoria is always going to be a cultural phenomenon whether you like it or not. People want to tune in. People want to see what’s going to happen with Ru, so I will be there.”
Among her other projects, Storm Reid was last seen in The Last of Us. She was also part of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, Is It Cake?, One Way, Missing and Nun II.
As per Variety, Euphoria was expected to return with season 3 in December 2024, however, HBO announced that the series is likely to roll out in 2026, as the shooting halted for many months during the Hollywood labour disputes.
