Star Wars: Skeleton Crew embraces the essence of early Amblin films in its new trailer, promising an exciting adventure. Mixing the adventures straight out of The Goonies with Lucasfilms' "a galaxy far, far away," the new trailer for the upcoming Jude Law starrer promises practical effects, space pirates, space adventure, a ragtag group of kids, and a charismatic lead.

Aside from that, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew also promises booby traps and mysterious locations that hark on the early Amblin adventure movies. The series is set to premiere next month on Disney+ and is created by Jon Watts who helmed the Spider-Man trilogy for Marvel Studios and Sony.

As per Disney, the official synopsis of the series is as follows:

"'Skeleton Crew' follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy, crossing paths with the likes of Jod Na Nawood, the mysterious character played by Law."

It continues:

"Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined."

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew trailer sees four children end up on an unlikely adventure

The trailer for the show opens with the song Major Tom (Coming Home) by Peter Schilling, and the character Wim is apprehended for doing something. It's later revealed that this was because he found something he wasn't supposed to in the woods. After getting free, he takes his friends to see what he discovered. However, they all get into trouble.

This leads them to escape the planet, although they get lost in the galaxy, which is far, far away. Ending up in a market, folks get suspicious of them for having Old Republic credits, and the kids are chased for it. Here, they meet Jod Na Nawood (Jude Law), who decides to help them get to their home in exchange for something that hasn't been revealed yet.

The trailer then involves montages of actions and set pieces where fans see the kids being hunted and going on adventures. It looks like the show's central plot will involve the kids getting lost in space and then trying their best to return home after coming across a charismatic character.

Jod is also confirmed to be a force user, and perhaps this is how Star Wars: Skeleton Crew may tie into the wider Star Wars mythology. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is also set to occur between the events of Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.
