Chucky, the horror-comedy series created by Don Mancini for Syfy, ended its run with its third season. The news came out on September 27, 2024, more than four months after the season three finale episode, Final Destination, aired on May 1, 2024.

The drama series released its third season in two parts, with the first airing on October 4, 2023, and the second part on April 10, 2024. Showrunner Don Mancini released the following statement after the show's cancellation:

"I’m heartbroken over the news that ‘Chucky’ won’t be coming back for a fourth season, but am so grateful for the killer three years we did have."

In April 2024, Mancini revealed that he had pitched his idea for a potential fourth season to the network. He spoke to The Direct in the same month and shared the following update about season 4:

"I think it’s really fun, new, and again, another left turn in terms of what we’ve been doing so far. We don’t know the status of the show yet. So again, fingers crossed that we will get picked up, right?"

However, the show's future seemed uncertain, and his enthusiasm encouraged fans to rally for a fourth season with the #RenewChucky fan campaign. But the network decided against greenlighting the series for another season.

The slasher series was a continuation of the Child’s Play film franchise and was a sequel to the 2017 film, Cult of Chucky. It centers around the Good Guy doll, Chucky, who goes on a murder spree after being possessed by a notorious serial killer.

In the show's third season, the evil doll lands up in the most powerful house in the world, the White House, and continues his reign of terror within America’s First Family.

The show featured Brad Dourif (reprising his role from the films) as the voice of the killer doll. Other cast members included Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Jennifer Tilly, Björgvin Arnarson, Christine Elise, Alex Vincent, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Fiona Dourif, Billy Boyd, etc.

The series was created by Don Mancini and produced by Mallory Westfall, Hartley Gorenstein, Alex Delyle, Todd Copps, Mitch Engel and Nick Zigler. Additionally, Nick Antosca, Harley Peyton, Alex Hedlund, Jeff Renfroe and others served as its executive producers. Chucky premiered on October 12, 2021, on Syfy and the USA Network simultaneously.

The series was well-received among fans and critics upon its release.

Syfy is now left with only two scripted series, The Ark and SurrealEstate. The other scripted series, Resident Alien, moved from Syfy to USA Network in 2024, ahead of its fourth season.

The network is also working on developing a live-action horror series based on the Image Comics titled Revival. Its star cast will include Melanie Scrofano as Dana Cypress, David James Elliott as Sheriff Wayne Cypress, Romy Weltman as Martha 'Em' Cypress and Andy McQueen as the CDC scientist Ibrahim Ramin.

Furthermore, USA Network announced in June 2024 that it was adaptating John Grisham’s 1995 bestseller, The Rainmaker, into a television series.

Viewers can stream all episodes of Chucky on Peacock.
