"That's how I feel on that right now" — Jim Parsons says there is no reason to reboot Big Bang Theory

Jim Parsons visited the Who's Talking to Chris Wallace show on Max on October 11, and discussed his iconic character as Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory. He said that playing the geeky, theoretical analyst was the "most insane, fortunate blessing" that he could ask for.

However, when Chris Wallace asked him if he would consider a reboot of Big Bang Theory, Parsons replied that it wasn't in his plans right now. He explained:

"As we sit here now, no, but I also would, I never say never to anything because life changes so much."

The actor also praised how "special" the sitcom was, and it's one of the reasons why he's not sure about doing a reboot. He further said:

"One of the things is that it was so special as what it was...as what it is. And they call it lightning in a bottle for a reason, and you can be certain it wouldn't be that. And so why would be doing it? I don't know...that's how I feel on that right now."

But again, Jim Parsons reiterated that "life is very long" and won't likely close any doors when it comes to a reboot, just not right now.

Jim Parsons said that playing Sheldon is "almost, if not totally 100% [a] blessing"

Elsewhere in the interview, Chris Wallace asked Jim Parsons about what he feels about playing Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory. The host inquired whether Parsons thinks the character has been a blessing or a curse for him, to which he replied:

"I feel pretty strongly that it's almost, if not totally, 100% bleeding at this point."

However, the actor admitted that he wouldn't have said the same if he was asked the same question 10 years ago. As for reprising his role as Sheldon, Jim Parsons appeared in the Young Sheldon finale. He told People about his cameo in the prequel series that it felt "like a perfect coda on the end of that entire beautiful experience."

However, in talks with E! News in May about what it would take for him to do a Big Bang Theory sequel, Jim Parsons bluntly replied, "Reincarnation...[in the] next lifetime". When asked to clarify if there will never be any sequel happening, the actor said never to say never to anything because life is long before adding that he doesn't think a sequel is happening. That said, he gushed about returning for the cameo in Young Sheldon, saying:

"It was very, very special to do that. The feeling today is kind of odd, you know? It's the second time now because when we ended The Big Bang Theory, it felt like this, too. A little bit different."

Jim Parson played Sheldon Cooper for all 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theory from 2007 to 2019 alongside co-stars Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, and Mayim Bialik. The show has won several Primetime Emmy Awards, including four Outstanding Lead Actor awards for Parsons.

In the Young Sheldon finale, he made a cameo with his co-star and on-screen wife, Mayim Bialik, who plays Amy Farah Fowler.
