Model, rapper, TV personality, and entrepreneur Amber Rose appeared on the opening day of the RNC 2024 on Monday, July 15, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she endorsed former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump during her speech.
“I realized Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re black, white, gay, or straight, it’s all love. And that’s when it hit me. These are my people, this is where I belong,” she mentioned onstage.
In the wake of Amber Rose’s pro-Trump speech, netizens have dug out her heated exchange with Puerto Rican rapper and TV personality Joseline Hernandez during an episode of BET’s College Hill: Celebrity Edition that happened in June 2023.
Hernandez pointed out to Rose in the College Hill episode that she was a “Black person” reiterating that she is “not White.” In response, the latter pointed out her father was white and she was allowed to identify as whoever she wanted to be. Hernandez further rebuked her and claimed how Amber “really wanna be a white girl,” which in turn turned the feud physical.
Since Amber Rose’s RNC 2024 speech went viral, netizens have been pointing out that Joseline Hernandez was right to call her out during the BET reality show and blasting the former. For instance, Instagram user @tinysstwinnn commented under The Shade Room’s post sharing snippets of Rose’s Trump endorsement speech by writing:
“That’s why Joseline smacked you up baby.”
Others chimed in on the situation and shared similar reactions,
“The time Joseline Hernandez clocked Amber Rose on this show, it’s all making sense now!” a person wrote.
“Joseline Hernandez, I now can see what you meant when arguing with Amber Rose. You should have gotten that degree,” another person wrote.
“Amber Rose speaking right after Charlie Kirk is an SNL skit. I cannot. Joseline Hernandez was right,” an individual wrote.
Given Rose's previous anti-Trump stance, netizens were taken aback by the 40-year-old's decision to take the stage and support the former president.
“Joseline Hernandez really hit the nail on the head when she said Amber Rose never wanted to be Black… Like your white a*s really standing up there telling people to vote for Trump. I’m baffled,” another individual wrote.
“Joseline Hernandez may have told us some jokes when it came to Amber Rose, but never a lie,” a netizen wrote.
“Gotta have Joseline Hernandez speak at the Democratic National Convention and give a response to the Amber Rose speech,” another netizen wrote.
“Identity crisis,” a user wrote.
For those uninitiated, Amber Rose’s mother, Dorothy Rose, is Black with Cape Verdean ancestry and of Scottish descent, while her father, Michael Levonchuck, is White and of Italian and Irish descent.
Exploring what Amber Rose said about Donald Trump during RNC 2024
On Monday’s Republican National Convention 2024 in Milwaukee, Donald Trump was present in the audience, two days after the assassination attempt on him in Butler, Pennsylvania, during a campaign rally.
Amber Rose took to the stage to endorse the Truth Social founder. She began her speech by accusing the media of lying about Trump and taking it upon herself to “set the record straight.” The rapper mentioned that she is ethnically diverse and once believed in the “left-wing propaganda” that Donald Trump is “racist.”
However, when her father disagreed with her, she was determined to prove him wrong and conducted her own research into “all things Donald Trump.” In doing so, she claimed to have realized how misguided she was, gave up on her “fear of judgment” of being "misunderstood,” and put on her “red [MAGA] hat.”
The Loveline host mentioned how she realized that Trump and his supporters did not care about people’s ethnicity or sexuality but were all about showcasing “love.” She added how this is when it “hit” her that this was where she belonged and these were her people.
“When I met the President [Trump] and Melania for the first time, he was kind, generous, and funny as h*ll, very funny. The [former] First Lady was gracious and smart with a smile that would brighten up any room,” she added.
The Philadelphia native also mentioned how the “country is in trouble,” considering the rising inflation, and claimed that American lives were better under the Trump administration when people were “safer, wealthier, and stronger,” and urged people to go vote for him again.
“I am here tonight to tell you, no matter your political background, that the best chance we have to give our babies a better life is to elect Donald Trump President of the United States,” she stated.
Amber’s speech earned a standing ovation at the RNC 2024, including from Trump himself and his Republican colleagues Marjorie Taylor Greene, Tim Scott, Ron DeSantis, and Katie Britt, among others. Rose first endorsed Trump in May on Instagram by sharing a picture with him and his wife.
Notably, with the latest viral speech, Amber Rose reversed her past criticism of Donald Trump during a 2016 interview with The Cut, back when the former president was busy with his first presidential campaign.
She called Trump a “f*cking idiot” and “weird” back then and hoped that he was not elected as president, adding that she previously considered moving to Canada if such a thing were to occur.
