Former broadcaster and media personality Wendy Williams broke her silence on Sean Combs, a.k.a. Diddy's recent arrest. In a statement made to Daily Mail on October 1, 2024, the 60-year-old, who has expressed criticism of the music mogul throughout her career, remarked:
"What is really weird is that I have been told by so many people, "Wendy, you called it," including some people from my family who have said the same."
For the unversed, Combs and Williams' feud began in the 1990s when the latter spoke up against the rapper on her radio show Hot 97. She claimed that she was fired as a result and suggested that he allegedly played a role in it. The ex-broadcaster has often spoken out against Combs.
As news of Wendy Williams' comments spread, internet users were quick to react. One stated:
"This who we really need for the tea! Ms Wendyyyy!"
Many hoped Weddy Williams would give the whole story in a formal sit down. Others noted that no one initially believed her when she spoke against the rapper:
Some users noticed that Wendy made this statement despite her ongoing health condition, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
"It is about time"- Wendy Williams about CCTV footage showing Diddy reportedly abusing his ex, Cassie Ventura
Diddy's troubles began last November when his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura sued him for r*pe and abuse. While the lawsuit was settled in a day, several others filed separate suits with similar allegations. This prompted a federal s*x trafficking investigation into the rapper.
In May 2024, CNN released CCTV footage from 2016, which showed Combs kicking and dragging a person reported to be Cassie Ventura across a hotel lobby. This corroborated the claims made in her lawsuit. At the time, Diddy released an apology video on Instagram that has since been deleted.
In her interview with the Daily Mail, Wendy Williams also opened up about the security footage. Expressing her horror, she stated:
"You know how I feel about that? It is about time. To see this video on TV of (Cassie) getting pummeled... it was just horrific."
Wendy Williams continued:
"But now you have to think, how many more times? How many people? How many more women? It’s just so horrible."
In September, federal officers arrested the I'll Be Missing You singer on charges of racketeering, s*x trafficking by force, fraud, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He pleaded not guilty on all counts.
Earlier today (October 2), in a press conference, Texas lawyer Tony Buzbee announced he was representing 120 new victims, 25 of whom are minors. The lawyer alleged the victims were s*xually assaulted and exploited, adding that Combs drugged the victims with a horse tranquilizer called xylazine.
The lawyer also stated that his team planned to expose other perpetrators who enabled the rapper. He added that they wanted to be "damn sure" before naming anybody.
Diddy's lawyer, Emily Wolff, in a statement made to Page Six, "emphatically and categorically" denied all accusations against her client. She called Buzbee's claims "false and defamatory."
According to Fox News, Diddy is under suicide watch in New York City's Metropolitan Detention Centre, where he awaits trial.
