"We've never gone out ever" — Kevin Costner denies dating Jewel, doesn't want rumors to ruin their friendship

American actor Kevin Costner recently appeared on The Howard Stern Show on June 18, 2024, and addressed the rumors and media speculation surrounding his relationship with Jewel. Commenting on his equation with the singer, Costner mentioned that he has had "tremendous conversations" with her and that he is aware of the rumors.

“No, Jewel and I are friends. We've never gone out ever," he said.

The actor went on to say that Jewel is "special" and said:

"I don’t want these rumors to ruin our friendship because that’s what we have."

The Yellowstone star also said that the artist is "beautiful enough to go out with."

The rumors surrounding Kevin Costner and the Foolish Games singer Jewel began when the latter hosted the Inspiring Children Foundation tennis fundraiser on Richard Branson’s private island and the actor attended as a guest in December 2023.

Speaking about the first time he met Jewel, Costner said on The Howard Stern Show that he was unaware the singer was a part of the foundation. He also said that Richard Branson had been asking him to come to Necker Island for 10 years so he finally went.

Kevin Costner stated that at the time, he was "divorced all of a sudden" and a single father, hence, he decided to go to the island, adding that Emma Watson and seven other individuals "who weren't celebrities" were also present.

This was a reference to his split from Christine Baumgartner. The latter filed for divorce in May 2023 after 18 years of marriage and the divorce was finalized in February 2024.

Commenting on his equation with Jewel, the Open Range actor mentioned:

"I've had conversations with her, text wise, and she's so smart, and she's been through a lot herself, and so we have a friendship. We don't have a romance, and we've not dated."

Kevin Costner added:

"She's beautiful and smart enough for all those things. It just has never happened for us. She's everything you might think, but it just hasn't happened."

During his appearance on The Howard Stern Show Costner also mentioned that the rumors about him dating Jewel had resulted in his children, Cayden, Hayes, and Grace, asking him about the singer.

While Kevin Costner put an end to the rumors, Jewel also spoke about the actor in an interview with ELLE magazine in April 2024. She called the Field of Dreams actor "a great person" and also mentioned that the public fascination for the two is "intense."
