When did Gossip Girl leave Netflix? (and when is it coming back?)

Based on the novel series by Cecily von Ziegesar of the same name, Gossip Girl’s initial run on The CW from 2007 to 2012 made it one of the most iconic teen dramas of all time, giving fans an epic cast that included stars such as Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chase Crawford, and a range of faces that went on to become familiar ones for our screens.

The series, unfortunately, had not been featured on major streaming platform Netflix of late, in the USA, as it was removed in January 2021. While the series was available for viewing, and still is, on Max, it seems as if Netflix has moved to appease fans of the iconic Warner Bros. creation.

Developed for the CW by the likes of Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, Gossip Girl ran for six seasons, which in total saw the release of exactly 121 episodes. The series itself revolved around the titular group of privileged teenagers who attended the same high school in New York City. The drama, adventurous escapades, and romantic adventures of the group were chronicled by an anonymous blogger, giving the group a lot of unwanted publicity.

Featured on the ‘Worth the Wait’ section on Netflix, the series is now set for a Summer 2024 return, with more updates expected to be revealed in the coming time.
