In a recent exclusive interview with People Magazine, actress and musician Riki Lindhome revealed that she has been married to actor, comedian, musician, and writer Fred Armisen for two years.

In the interview, which was published on July 17, the Wednesday star mentioned that they recently celebrated their second wedding anniversary on June 1 and thought now was the right time to make the news of their marital status and parenthood public.

Additionally, the 45-year-old shared that she became a mother to a son in 2022 via surrogacy and sperm and egg donors, a few weeks after her first official date with Fred Armisen.

“I could tell I was having feelings, but then I was like, ‘Well, I can’t say anything because I’m about to have a baby,” Lindhome recalled.

The actress further shared that she had known her now husband and Wednesday co-star Fred Armisen for over 15 years before they became a couple.

While Armisen is Riki’s first husband, he has previously been married twice, first to English musician Sally Timms from 1998 to 2004 and later to British-American actress Elisabeth Moss between 2009 and 2011. He was also romantically involved with actress Natasha Lyonne from 2014 to 2022.

Riki Lindhome and Fred Armisen had a court marriage

During the interview with People, Riki Lindhome announced that she had been married to longtime friend and colleague Fred Armisen since June 2022, and they shared a child, born in March of that same year.

She told the publication that while they had known each other for over a decade and a half, she had first developed feelings for him when they were filming for Wednesday in Romania in 2021 and 2022.

However, Riki Lindhome was initially reluctant to share her feelings as she was awaiting the arrival of her baby with the help of a surrogate after failed IVF treatments and adoption plans.

“I knew that I was starting to have feelings for him, and I wanted to go on a date. That's what I knew. So, I was like, 'Okay, let's explore.’ Then it unfolded naturally over time… I was like, ‘I want to have dinner with you.’ My thought was, ‘I want to kiss you. I want to see you.’ Then it just kept going,” she shared.

Riki Lindhome reminisced that the transition of their relationship was “weird, crazy timing,” and since they had been friends for a long time, things just moved about “fast.”

“We had one dinner and then it was like, ‘Oh, yeah, let's see where this goes.’ It was surprising. I would say it was more of a shock to him. He did not see it coming at all,” she shared.

Meanwhile, Riki Lindhome welcomed her son, and Armisen returned to Romania to continue shooting. She professed her feelings for him two weeks after the newborn's arrival. Another couple of weeks later, he returned to the USA and met the baby for the first time. She recalled telling him he had no obligation to stay with her and raise the kid.

“I said, ‘All I want is the truth. If you feel in your gut that's not for you, it doesn't make you a jerk. I'm not mad at you.’ I said, ‘I still think you're the best. I just want you to really feel what you feel. And then be honest about it because it's a big life-altering thing.’ And he said, ‘Okay, okay,’” Riki Lindhome added.

The Big Bang Theory actress recalled that while she was prepared to be a “single mom with a boyfriend,” he didn’t hesitate to say “Yes” and quipped that since then, they have been this “insta-family, basically.”

After dating for a few weeks, they moved in with their baby Keaton, and when he was three months old, they tied the knot in a three-minute-long private courthouse ceremony with ice creams, one witness, and borrowed rings. Later, they spent their honeymoon in Iceland after a year.

“It's not a secret, but we didn’t really tell people. We didn’t announce it or anything. And we thought people would hear about it eventually. And that’s what happened, one friend at a time…I didn’t even tell my mom,” she remembered.

Riki Lindhome also explained that she and Armisen didn’t want to “hurt” anybody’s feelings by not having a big wedding, nor did they want to be “pressured into having one.” Hence, they went with the surprise nuptial.

Towards the end of the chat, the Aftraid star also quipped that “the traditional way to land a man is not to have a baby by yourself and move to Romania,” adding that years back, a mutual friend told her that she and Fred would eventually end up together. However, back then, she chose not to believe her and even labeled the idea “funny.”

The New York native also called her marriage with Fred Armisen “calm and easy” and called their son “the coolest little guy.” She also confessed to enjoying all the perks of motherhood.
