Actress Michelle Trachtenberg passed away at the age of 39 on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. According to the New York Police Department, they responded to an emergency call on the morning of Wednesday, around 8 am local time.
However, when paramedics arrived, they found the actress "unconscious and unresponsive." Emergency medical workers later pronounced her "deceased at the scene."
There is still no cause of death confirmed regarding Michelle Trachtenberg's sudden passing, but according to the NYPD:
"Criminality is not suspected. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing."

Her publicist, Gary Mantoosh, confirmed her death in a statement, per Variety, but said that there are no further details about her passing available at this time.
The actress rose to fame as a child star in the 1990s and 2000s. Michelle Trachtenberg played socialite Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl from 2008 to 2012. It got her a nomination as the Choice TV Villain in the 2012 Teen Choice Award. She reprised the role in Max's 2022 Gossip Girl revival and so far appeared in two episodes.

Per her IMDb page, Michelle Trachtenberg has been in show business since 1991, starting with an uncredited guest-starring role as Dinah Driscoll in Law & Order. However, long before that appearance on TV, the actress has been appearing in commercials since she was three years old.
From guest roles on TV shows, she landed a recurring role in Nickelodeon's The Adventures of Pete & Pete. She played Nona Mecklenberg in the series from 1994 to 1996.
By the end of her stint in the series, she was cast for a starring role in Harriet the Spy. She continued to appear on several projects on both the big and small screens from there. In 1997, she played Maggie Parker in Meego and was also in the movies Inspector Gadget and Can't Be Heaven in the 1990s.
Michelle Trachtenberg then landed the role of Dawn Summers in the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which would go on until 2003. It's one of her major TV roles. She joined the cast during the show's fifth season as Sarah Michelle Geller's Buffy Summer's younger sister. She also won Best Supporting Young Actress for her performance as Dawn at the 2001 Young Artist Awards.
