Actress Vanessa Morgan, from the CW series Riverdale, shared on Instagram on Saturday, July 6, that she and her partner, James Karnik, are expecting their first child together.

To share the news with her friends and followers, she even uploaded a group of photos with the caption-

“So in love with this man, our family of 4 coming this month. Surprise! Thank you GOD.”

However, this isn’t Vanessa Morgan’s first pregnancy. She already has a son named River, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Michael Kopech. On January 4, 2020, the couple got married at the Historic Walton House in Homestead, Florida. However, Kopech filed for divorce six months later.

In 2018, Kopech and Vanessa Morgan began dating. Later, in July 2018, Us Magazine verified that Kopech had moved in with Morgan. In July 2019, they even got engaged at the Grand Canyon.

After being engaged for six months, the couple got married on January 4, 2020, in front of 40 guests at the Historic Walton House in Homestead, Florida. That same month, they discussed their relationship in detail on the White Sox Talk podcast. In the joint audio interview with Kopech, she said-

“I feel like he’s my twin flame. … I think the stars aligned.”

Later, Vanessa Morgan revealed that she was expecting a baby boy in July 2020. However, Morgan did not include Kopech in the announcement of her pregnancy, who was previously revealed to be taking a break from playing for the White Sox that season for "personal reasons”.

In June 2020, rumors emerged that Michael Kopech filed for divorce in Texas shortly after his wife, Vanessa Morgan, announced her pregnancy. Their son was born in January 2021, and a week later, Morgan revealed the baby's name and mentioned Kopech in the announcement. On March 13, 2024, Vanessa Morgan reflected on the difficult breakup during their first pregnancy, describing it as a painful experience.

On Monday's Broad Ideas podcast, she opened up about their breakup to host Rachel and reflected on the split. She further added-

“God saved me. I only saw the bigger picture now. You go through those two years of pain. I went through two years of pain.”

She then said-

“It’s almost like we idolize what our dream reality [was] from when we were a kid … [then] you mourn the future that never happened. You mourn the fantasy that you created, and that wasn’t the reality that was the best alignment for me.”

However, Vanessa Morgan said that in the end, she came to the realization that things had happened in a way that had helped her develop, meet the perfect partner, and become the best mother to her kid.

Morgan went on to say that Karnik has played a significant role in her son's life, while Kopech hasn't completely disappeared. She continued, saying-

"His father is in his life. He doesn’t get to see him very often."

Following their divorce, Kopech married Morgan Eudy, and the two had a son named Vander in 2022. Meanwhile, Morgan started dating basketball player James Karnik in the years following her divorce, and they have been together since 2022.

However the reason behind Morgan and Kopech’s divorce was never made official. On the other hand, Vanessa and Karni recently shared photos of Vanessa's expanding baby bump on Instagram and announced that they are expecting.

In the first photo of the post, James is seen holding Vanessa in one arm while holding her baby bump with the other.

Nevertheless, Vanessa Morgan didn’t say anything else about her pregnancy and neither did Kopech.
