Nancy MacKenzie, who voiced Marge Simpson in the Latin American version of The Simpsons, has recently passed away at the age of 81. She gave her voice to the character for the first 15 seasons of the animated series and additionally pursued a career as an actress in television and theater.

Notably, Marge Simpson was originally voiced by Julie Kavner, who also had many films under her credits. Apart from Marge, Julie voiced for her sisters including Patty and Selma. Furthermore, she appeared in The Simpsons Movie, which came out back in 2007.

Actress Patricia Acevedo, a colleague of Nancy MacKenzie, who voices Lisa Simpson for Latin America revealed the news of her death through Instagram with a video. The caption, when translated to English through Google Translate, reads:

"It is with deep sadness that the Simpson kids (Lisa and Bart), announce the passing of our beloved mom, Marge Simpson (Nancy MacKenzie). Rest in peace, you will never be forgotten."

Social media platforms were also flooded with tributes of other voice actors who knew Nancy MacKenzie over the years, along with Humberto Vélez, who voiced the character of Homer.


Nancy MacKenzie's career explored

The Lima, Peru native slowly developed an interest in acting and dancing at a very young age and established herself as a popular face after arriving in Mexico during her 20s. She initially worked on television and later began pursuing her career as a voice actor.

She dubbed for several well-known faces from the entertainment industry, including Sigourney Weaver, Bette Midler, and more. Apart from these, Nancy was a part of various commercials and gained recognition for her work with the TV station, Panamericana.

Before her death, she voiced Sailor Galaxia in the international version of the animated action fantasy film Sailor Moon Cosmos. The film was released in two parts last year and the anime movie will also premiere through Netflix on August 22 this year.

As mentioned, Nancy MacKenzie was widely known for voicing Marge Simpson for the Latin American audience. Nancy once revealed about how she was chosen for the character. She revealed:

"When I saw Homer Simpson's wife's ugly hairstyle, I rejected the proposal and said: 'Not with my voice and that face.' However, my classmates encouraged me and told me to try for a while, and now I am part of a great family, with whom I have come to love."

Nancy MacKenzie had a lot of successful voice acting projects under her credits such as the Spanish version of Trinity in The Matrix, Daphne in The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, Muppets Tonight, The Flinstones, and more.
