She was arrested on Monday, September 2, 2024, by the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department in Tennessee. She was arrested at a Tennessee zoo and was believed to be illegally possessing Schedule I and Schedule IV substances.
The Crockett County Sheriff’s Department shared a statement about the arrest of Amy Slaton along with Brian Scott Lovvorn, who was also present at the scene along with her. The Sheriff's Department has not provided any context regarding the charges of child endangerment levied upon Amy Slaton. The department also refrained from sharing any information regarding the presence of Amy's two children at the location.

It was a bizarre turn of events for the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department on September 2, 2024. They received a call from a guest at the Tennessee Safari Park, stating that he was bitten by a camel. When they reached the park they were shocked to find a very 'suspicious odor' coming from the vehicle of the guest.
Inspection of the vehicle led to the shock arrest of Amy Slaton who was booked on two counts of child endangerment and the illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule IV substances. Along with her present in the vehicle was a man named Brian Scott Lovvorn. Brian was arrested on the same charges.
However, the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department also made the following statement on Facebook:
"The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence"
They also noted the following:
"The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law."
Amy Slaton is famous for starring with her sister Tammy Slaton in the TCL reality television series 1000-Lb. Sisters. The show chronicles their journey towards weight loss and weight loss surgeries. The sisters are natives of Dixon, Kentucky and their show has also included other members of their family over the past two years.
One of the prominent members of the show is Amy's ex-husband Michael Halterman who is the father of her two children, Gage Deon Halterman and Glenn Halterman. The series premiered on TLC on January 1, 2020, and has been running since then. 1000-Lb. Sisters completed its fifth season on TLC in February 2024.
