Dick Wolf's upcoming TV series On Call will debut on Prime Video on January 9, 2025. All eight episodes of the police procedural drama will be released at once on the streaming platform. This marks Wolf Entertainment’s first scripted streaming series, best known for Law & Order and the One Chicago franchises.

Set in Long Beach, California, the show follows a rookie officer and a veteran cop in the lead roles. The show will be accessible to viewers in over 240 countries and territories. All eight episodes of the show will be released at once, allowing viewers to binge-watch the entire series on the day of its premiere.

This format is a departure from the weekly episodic release typical of Wolf’s broadcast series. The trailer for On Call was released on December 5, 2024, highlighting the chemistry that the fans will witness between the leading pair of officers.

On Call was initially announced by IMDB TV (previously Amazon Freevee) in May 2021. The production of the series took a break in May 2023 due to the writers' and actors' strike in Hollywood.

The official logline of the 2025 series reads,

"On Call is an adrenalized and visceral police drama that follows a rookie and veteran officer duo as they go on patrol in Long Beach, California."

In an interview with Fangirlish dated December 19, 2024, the show's co-creators Tim Walsh & Elliot Wolf talked about their vision, saying:

“Well, the appeal is that it’s not an hour, and we don’t have to write an hour-long script, I don’t know that there is a true drawback, so much as a challenge. We want to allow the audience to really get to know these characters…we are essentially doing the length of a very long movie in eight half-hour episodes.”

They elaborated on their long-term goals, saying:

"First and foremost, to create a bond between the audience and these characters and find the humanity in the characters…We always see them as humans first — that happen to be police officers — and very quickly, you understand what they do day-to-day and the danger of the job."

They continued:

"But ultimately, we really want you to understand them. So in four hours, [it’s] difficult, but we took our best swing at it.”
