Warning: There are major spoilers for Only Murders in the Building season 4 episode 4 ahead.
Only Murders in the Building season 4 episode 4 ending: What is up with Dudenoff and the West Towers?
This episode of Only Murders in the Building season 4 saw Mabel (Selena Gomez) continue her attempts at drawing Dudenoff out by squatting in his apartment. However, when she needed to go with Charles (Steve Martin) and Oliver (Martin Short) to investigate more about Sazz's death, she left Howard (Michael Cyril Creighton) to guard the place.
Howard left for an audition instead, and the offbeat set of West Tower residents, including the Soup family, Vince, and Rudy, entered the house with an agenda of their own. On returning from their investigation, Mabel found Howard in their building, which prompted her to rush to Dudenoff's house. She found the residents moving the bed when she entered.
As she cornered them and called them a cult, the residents realized that they would have to tell Mabel about their "scheme," as she could also be in on it.
They explained that Dudenoff was the owner of the West Tower. As a retired professor, he lived in Portugal and rented the apartments out for "peanuts."
Dudenoff lived like a king in Portugal, and the West Tower residents paid him rent, which was way, way below market rate. Now the residents were planning to sublet the apartments to make some money of their own.
With the revelation that the rent was only 200 dollars a month, they actually got Mabel interested in the scheme too.
Who was the voice on the radio?
The previous episode's ending seemed to hint that someone sinister was behind the murder of Sazz, as hinted by the woman on the radio. This episode also explained that the voice on the radio was Rudy's psychotic ex-girlfriend, who was paranoid, and repeatedly tried to contact him through the ham radio.
All this combined seemed to hint that the West Tower residents were not involved in the murder. Instead, they were only an odd bunch of people with some peculiar hobbies.
What was Sazz's dream, and what was that final twist?
Only Murders in the Building season 4 episode 4 dealt with themes of Sazz's personal life and how injuries were slowing her down significantly. Through a series of encounters, Charles realized that perhaps Sazz was not very happy with the one-sided relationship with him. He realized that she was planning to pursue her long-term dream of opening Sazz’s Impact Academy, a trampoline park where she could also teach the ins and outs of being a stuntperson.
She even bought land for this academy, which Charles remembered after being hit in the head with a bottle by Ben Glenroy's body double (Paul Rudd).
The trio ended up going to the space Sazz had purchased for setting up her Impact Academy, only to find Bev Melon, the producer of Paramount Pictures, there. She drew a gun at them as the episode came to an abrupt end, leaving a lot of things hanging.
Only Murders in the Building season 4 episode 4 is now streaming on Hulu.
