The fourth episode of Only Murders in the Building Season 4 premiered on September 17, 2024, continuing the story of Sazz's murder and the secrets of the West Tower. After what felt like a narratively slower episode last week, this latest one, titled The Stunt Man, brought back all the drama you'd expect from a show of this caliber and ended on a cliffhanger that will have fans hooked for the entire week.
The latest episode once again dived back into the three podcasters, Mabel (Selena Gomez), Oliver (Martin Short), and Charles (Steve Martin), as they continued their search for the truth while recording a new season of their podcast. Only this time, things are a lot more personal, especially for Charles.
In all its hilarious tenderness, this episode does a lot. From exploring Charles and Sazz's relationship to detangling some of the crucial set pieces to a very abrupt but powerful ending, this episode was the complete package. It also seems to have increased the stakes, which means that the next few episodes will be even more interesting.

Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 4 review: Picking up the pace, and doing it well
Though it would be unfair to call any episode of Only Murders in the Building Season 4 dull, the previous episode simply did not have the narrative prowess of the second one, or the latest one. The previous episode teased several things, including a plot surrounding the West Tower residents and the mysterious voice behind the radio.
However, all that was resolved in this episode, as it was revealed that the voice on the radio was Rudy's stalker girlfriend, and their elaborate plot was not a murder plan but plans to sublet the apartment that Dudenoff rented them. It also clarified Dudenoff's identity as a retired professor who lets them rent his apartments for way below market rate. He also lives in Portugal and sends them gifts.
With that out of the way, we can dive into the really interesting plot points of Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 4. This episode took our three protagonists to the stunt world, where they were greeted by the delightful Paul Rudd as Ben Glenroy's body double.
This episode used the stunt community very well to create some moments of great humor, including labeling Charles as "face," a derogatory term for actors in the stunt world. However, their little investigation, if not anything, allowed Charles to recall Sazz's dream of opening a trampoline park that would double up as a stunt training academy.
It also delved into various themes of Charles and Sazz's relationship, where the latter was allegedly not up to it anymore physically but Charles failed to recognize that. This gave the episode an emotional depth that was lacking in the previous one.
Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 4 has the most interesting ending so far
While all the episodes of this latest fourth season have been rather great, this is the first episode that absolutely stuck the landing.
The ending saw Mabel, Charles, and Oliver go to Sazz's purchased property only to be greeted by the most surprising person there- Bev Melon, the producer who approached them from Paramount Pictures. Before the trio could do anything, Bev drew a gun at them, ending the episode on a cliffhanger.
All in all, this was one of the strongest episodes of Only Murders in the Building and one of the best from Season 4 so far. It also indicated that things are about to become better in the coming episodes.
The first four episodes of Only Murders in the Building Season 4 are now streaming on Hulu.
